Huh. Money.
I've been a member here at WA for almost exactly three years now, and the main reason I've stayed is because of the wealth of information you can get. I haven't done much in the way of commenting or blogging or anything else in the last couple of years because I am very busy with my day-to-day business in the real world.
I haven't really made money with my blog, chiefly because of the lack of time and effort I put into it; months will go by without me visiting the thing. I do love my blog, though, because it has to do with camping and that's something I love. I have to add, guiltily, that it is also somewhat ignored due to owning a business. Oh, let's face it...it is shamefully neglected.
However, I recently got an email from my Amazon Associates account (which is the advertising I have on my website), telling me politely but sternly that I have to fill out my U.S. tax info if I want any money from them...which made me go to my account to see what the hey-dee-ho they were talking about.
Seems they have a hundred and twenty-nine dollars and some cents waiting to send to me. Checking my records, I see it has slowly been adding up, a dollar here, thirty dollars there, five dollars another time...and I haven't really done a darned thing with the website at all.
Sooo...for all of you out there who are wondering about whether or not your website will earn money for you, I can just say that if my ignored website, run by a lazy dweeb like me can make a little money, anybody's can.
I wonder what would happen if I paid some attention to it?

That's really interesting! Now I should go back to my website and put more time and effort working on it :-)
I thought it was interesting too--and surprising. It's made me want to pay more attention to it. Now that my business is going smoothly (for as long as that might last), I think I'll put more time in there.
You know what, if you read my last two blogs, I'd been thinking of leaving WA. But thank God, it didn't happen. Stories like yours really inspired me to work harder.
Oh my goodness Borneoman, I'm so happy you didn't. There were times when I thought maybe I should because I was spending hardly any time here, but there's just so much useful information at WA I always hesitated, And now that my website is actually making a little humble money, I'm glad I didn't.
Your camping site is very simple yet it made you some money. I think you'll earn more from it if you keep adding more content.
