7-Months In-Getting More Traffic, but in a Writing Lull
I recently passed the 7-month milestone of my website. I've actually gotten a decent increase in traffic in the past month. Google is sending more traffic my way, but I'm also getting lots more from Pinterest.
However, I have really slowed on writing. I only wrote about 6 articles for this site in the last month. It's been a good break to focus on other things in my life (we sold our home and are trying to find a new one--very stressful!) but I'm having a hard time staying motivated right now. I'm feeling uninspired for content topics.
A New Site
A couple weeks ago, I started site #2. This is going to be more of a frugal living blog and I plan to promote WA since I will likely be talking about ways to make money. However, I'm only writing one post a week or so and I'm not doing anything to get comments, promote, etc. Really I'm just trying to slowly build the foundation and domain age so that once I have more time to work on it, I have more to work with. But it is definitely not my focus right now as finding a way to get success with my cloth diaper site is still a higher priority.
Traffic Improvements
Traffic wise, I have had over 2800 visitors in the last 30 days, and over 4000 sessions. Not bad and is an improvement compared to the 1900 visitors and 2900 sessions I had the month prior...but not where I want to be yet. My ultimate goal is to have enough traffic for Mediavine because I think ads will have to be my primary monetization strategy (commissions are low on my products and the products are inexpensive. But I am always looking for other things to promote, too!)
$$$
Money wise, I have made some more sales. To date, I have made $106.54. Last month, that "to date" number was only $56.88! Not quite doubled, but close! $20 has been cashed out to me so far--the rest is spread out and not quite up to cashout thresholds yet at their respective programs.
As far as Google goes:
My organic hits and rankings are definitely going up! I do think this could have been better if I had better keywords. I did follow the training and rules for keywords best I could, but due to the smallness of my niche, finding keywords with a decent search volume was and is difficult. Many of mine are under 100, and plenty even under 50. This is something I'm definitely working to improve, but like I said, my niche is small and it is an ongoing struggle.
Considering some of my search terms don't have high levels of traffic, I'm glad I'm still seeing results.
Youtube
I am not keeping up with Youtube as I wish I were. However, I did create a video review for a particular brand and it ended up shared on that brand's Facebook page! That was exciting for me.
Anyway, here is where I sit 7 months in. I am seeing my hard work pay off, and I'm seeing the new direction I want to take my main site in (parenting/natural parenting) help bring up my traffic stats quite a bit.

It must be encouraging for you to receive organic traffic. Yes, hard work does pay off in the long run. Congratulations.
Glad to hear that your site traffic is coming along. I understand too about being in a writing lull, but like anything else I think we all go through those times, like seasons, at least I do.
Thanks again for sharing.
