Basically, both Wordpress and Joomla are similar. They are content management system(CMS) that can help you build your website. There is another one which widely use, called Drupal. It is the most complex among the three. Wordpress is the easiest CMS. It also comes with a lot of plugins that will allow you to manage you site better and give a more personal touch to your website. While Joomla is a bit more complex and required some of basic technical skill. You need to understand how to do the setup and all.
Of course, each of them comes with its own strength and weakness. Wordpress is the most user-friendly while Drupal is the most powerful comes with its complexity and Joomla is somewhere between those two. Which will be better to build your site? Well..
