Republishing a Post From Site Content. It Can Be Done!

I've been struggling with this for a while now so I thought there might be a few others in the same boat.

Here is the issue:

I write something in Site Content (which I love using) and I get really excited and publish it to my website.

Then I decide I want to add some more content and images and I go back to site content but the only button available says "Published: Edit here." Which takes me to my website for editing there (which I hate)!

So when I got up at 4:45am today I was determined to figure out how to update my posts in Site Content and "republish" them to my website.

Thanks to a couple of friends on Live Chat who were hanging out with me and talking me through the process - I figured it out.

How to edit and Republish from Site Content

All you have to do is save your original post in Site Content as a Template. There is a little box to check that says include content and your whole post (mine was almost 2300 words with some images) will become a template which you can then publish to your website!!

I hope this helps some of you who, like me, love working in Site Content and want to be able to edit and republish from Site Content.

Have a great day folks and Dream Big!

Thanks for this tip. I also don't really like editing from my Wordpress dashboard so this helps a lot!

Happy help whenever I can. Best of luck in all you are doing!

Hi Heather. We are showing our ignorance here but we don't understand why that process doesn't, effectively, just create a second more or less duplicate post. By publishing from the template are you not creating a new post?

Yes. I deleted my first post from my website because I wanted it to be more in depth. I don’t like editing from there. But when I went back to site content I could not edit and the republish my original post.
That is why I created the template. Then I could edit in site content and post again. You are correct. It is a new post using my old post as the base content.

Got it. Thanks for explaining. Great idea.
