Social Media Hiatus. Help me out!

A few years ago I took a social media hiatus, only continuing to do what I absolutely had to. It’s been great having more privacy, but I feel now that I’ve stunted myself by not taking advantage of all of the tools available. I'm a little out of the loop. I look at snapchat and twitter the same way my grandparents look at an iPhone. So, recently I've been trying to experiment with things that are outside my comfort zone. So let me know what social media platforms you have found most useful and any other tips.
