Are you subconsciously sabotaging yourself?
It is very common for many of us who are venturing into the world of online marketing to want to keep things quiet and not let our friends know what we are doing until we start to reap some success. We want to shy away from the many questions that we fear we may not be able to answer. Is this a good or a bad thing to do? Can this have an impact on our success?
In my view this is bad and it does have a negative impact on our success. You may be wondering why I am saying this. But think about it this way. Our subconscious mind is very obedient and it does everything that we tell it it do. The danger in this is that most of us are not aware of the things that we are telling our subconscious mind to do.
When we venture into a new area full, of excitement and anticipation, there is always that little voice which creeps in to whisper; "what are you doing? You have never done this before! It might not work." It is usually at this point that we start to think that we will just quietly do our thing and maybe tell a few very close friends.
We tell ourselves that when everything is working great we will let everyone know about it. Our ever so faithful subconscious mind then listens to our message of fear saying, "oh it might not work," and obediently carries out that instruction. We then begin to wonder how come this thing seems so simple yet it is not working for us.
What can we do to avoid this?
We need to maintain the confidence and enthusiasm that we first started with. The voices of doubt will come, yes. But we can negate them by building on our initial level of confidence. We do this by taking action despite our fears. We acquire knowledge which will help us to gain confidence. The more confidence we have the more we will be willing to tell others about what we are doing.
Not everyone will share our enthusiasm or even express an interest in whatever we are doing, but that should not deter us from speaking with confidence. Remember the subconscious? It will then kick into a different gear and instead of showing us why things will not work it will begin to show us new areas of opportunity and new ways of making things work. We will then begin to see good results.
Here at wealthy affiliate we have a great confidence builder which is our community. Some persons here may have questions but are afraid to ask them because they think that they are dumb. There is no such thing as a dumb question. What you don't know you just don't know. It's no good to sit by and hope that someone else will have the same question and ask it so you can get your answer. It might not happen and you will be left in the dark.
If anyone really wants to avoid or stop the self sabotage he/she needs to start engaging in the community. Start asking questions. Start answering questions. If you see a question asked and you think you might have an answer but you are not quite sure, do some research and boost your confidence.
Success will not come your way if you bury yourself in self doubt and negativity. Our main purpose for being in this community is to succeed and there is everything here to help us to achieve that success. My encouragement to anyone who is having doubts about their success in Wealthy Affiliate is to take action and become actively engaged. You will be surprised at the many doors that will be opened for you.
