THE BOXING HALL OF FAME PARADE AND CEREMONY--2011
Back in 2011, I had the distinct priviledge of meeting and talking to Mr. ROCKY himself---Sylvester Stallone. It was at The Boxing Hall of Fame Ceremony in my home town!
Every year, I drove my PT Cruiser convertible in the Parade. There were about 25 convertibles that escorted the boxers being inducted. They sat with their wife or another boxer on top of the back seat, waving to the crowd. I drove Wilfried Sauerland and his wife the year Sly Stallone was there, following the car with Mike Tyson. (and drove Ernie Shavers another time--I drove in 3 parades!)
Living in The Boxing Hall of Fame town was always exciting. There were several famous boxers who lived there, too. (I dated the son of Billy Backus, the Welterweight Champion of the world, back in high school.---haha!) My Dad was best friends with Carman Basillo and Tony Graziano. Tony is 96 now and still runs and cooks in his restaurant right off the New York State Thruway in Canastota. Grazianos World Famous Restaurant---where boxer's photos flood the walls.
Sly and Tyson were commemorated and inducted into The Boxing Hall of Fame, as were all the other many inductees. I have photos that relive that wonderful day below!

Thanks for sharing. The eye of the tiger reminds me of one of favorite movies of time Rocky lll.
Wow, how cool is that. That is so great, That will be the greatest thing for your memories forever.
If I could like this 1000 Times I would. I’m jealous lol. I was a boxer for years until injury took me out of all contact sports for good. That would be an awesome experience I’m glad you got to experience it.
Thanks, Travis! Being a boxer must have been a phenomenal experience! I go back to my hometown for book signings for my Bibletoons series and have had a booth several times at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center in Liverpool, where boxers and fans flood the arena for the "Finding the Next Champion" series. I designed a boxing web site for the man who created and runs the events, my Dad's best friend, who invites me every year!
Sorry you had to take a step back, but just remember, everything happens for a reason. I know you're right where you're supposed to be now!
