The Great Procrastination
Yesterday I was researching for a new post. What I found was a great video on procrastination. Now being one of the great procrastinators, I watched this and it is one of the best presented videos I have seen.
Now I found this within the website of a fellow WA member. His call sign is BNakedScam.
Apparently we are all procrastinators to some extent.
In my case this is true. Sometimes I can not, for the life of me, start or finish something. Generally I can overcome this but I am sure, having watched this, I will be able to see some humour in my situation and relax, so as to get going again.
I think it will help many of you guys (in Canadian speak ie guys and gals) carry on.
I do hope you find it as enjoyable as I did.

Well it's time get started on my new website. Well maybe not now. I'll start it tomorrow....ha ha
Wes, I know about the visitor barrier to working here. Those lovely but inconvenient family or friends who just love to visit. Life is a balancing act.
Now stop procrastinating and get to that new website. I see you have one started so why not put the link on your profile. You do this on the right down at the bottom. This way we can all visit you.
I was under the impressin you couldn't. And it still rough.
But if a person went to go to http://mindset1.com and erase this message appreciate your feed back.
Wes, you certainly can put your link on your profile page.
You do this by going to the right of your profile page, down to the bottom where it says 'Follow me on' and click on it. Put your website URL and any social media URLs you have (and want to add).
This way people like me can hop in, visit and leave a comment. This makes it easier for us to follow you as this will be a direct link. And extra traffic is always welcome.
I didn't comment yet but will return later to do so.
A couple of suggestions. Put your images either on the right or centred (if it is a wide image). The 'boys' here recommend that as we read from left to right and left aligned images can ruin that flow.
Also with your 4 steps image, go to Paint and manipulate the text so it is centred. If you need help with Paint let me know. When you finish replace the one you have and centre it.
I hadn't heard about them before. Now when I have a few extra minutes I will go and take a look around TED.
You just need to grit your teeth and do it. As you are your own boss set your own deadlines. Then keep them.
I'm guilty of that all the time! Hahaha monkey see monkey do! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it. I was like oh that's me!
I call it monkey brain. That is my brain is constantly moving, jumping from idea to idea. Even meditation doesn't help much!

Yep I can totally relate to every word he said. I remember my first year at Uni. First semester I procrastinated All the work right up until the last week.
I had 10.000 pp to read and learn and to write a summary of what I had learned about International Relations! During that week I did not sleep at all. Before the exam I played Badminton for 2 full hours. Best I ever played.
To be honest I did not score as I should have, but I passed and my term paper was approved too. Because of that I've remained a procrastinator all my life.
Only recently I've learned how to escape it. What I do is I decide to spend 10 mins working on the very easiest part of what must be done. No more. Let's say it's a post I need to write.
So I will write the heading and the first sentence. That's easy so I count down 3 2 1 and do it. Having done that my brain has already started thinking on how to continue, so I tell myself OK I'll just write this or that, and I find myself suddenly having written 500 words!
Then I take a break and recharge my procrastinator. Then repeat the process. Find the easiest part that will take 10 mins. Then get caught up again... lol
Good plan Goran. I suppose I do a bit of this. What I usually do is as Kyle suggested. Do a basic outline. Then as ideas come just jot them into this outline.
And I can assure you it works but the finished product generally has little bearing on the original outline. That's evolution!
I know about the Uni thing. Fortunately our head of school decided we needed a common room just for students (well the odd lecturer often dropped in for a game of cards). This isn't common among many universities in Australia.
What that turned into was also a communal learning room. Any questions, problems or ideas that needed sorting; one just needed to ask. There was always a group that could discuss it and help out. So assignments etc were frequently a group effort. This wasn't a cop out for anyone as if you didn't contribute you were 'copped' out of the group.
