I am having trouble in being sure that the photos on my site are not copyrighted. any extra words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If I’m doing a positive review of a product and link to that product on Amazon or another affiliate site, I will use a commercial image from the manufacturer and I’ve never had issues. If I was doing a not so great review, then it might be different. I’ve got images from walking into stores and taking pics in my phone of the product and packaging.

Kyle has some training on this in Level 2.

I’ve also watched videos (independents) and taken a pic of something in the video.

Just to add to this, if you’re marketing a product (selling it), then a manufacturer will have an IMPOSSIBLE time selling their product if they don’t allow you to use their images.

If in doubt or are unsure, you can contact the manufacturer directly if you cancuse their images of a particular item, but explain that you have a review site that promotes their product...

I have watched and read the level 2 training. A couple times. I have just had a difficult time finding interesting or different photos that are free.

I have a few photos of my own and understand that if I take a picture in a shop I am able to use those. Just wanted a little extra help. Thanks so much. Have a good night,

Any photo online is copyrighted. Period. to use anything you didn't create you need express written permission.

Okie dokie omot, Maybe I did not phrase this clearly enough. By going to the free photo sites, some tell you what part you may use it for, like for commercial , unmodified, etc....I realize that you are aware of this type of thing. I am not.

There are other areas on this topic that you might have given me a little more information on.

I am unsure of how the screen shots work. How do you contact the owner of a picture?, where would you find that info? , why do I not see any copyrighted info near the same picture in 5 different catalogs ?

Any picture that I take is technically considered a copyright for the next 50+ years. Papers with it or no. I can still come back and sue, if someone uses it without my permission.

A little info about how to go about getting written permission would be helpful. I smidge of helpfulness about how to credit the owner of the photo. Maybe a spec of info on screenshots.

I am doing the lessons, I take notes , I sometimes redo the lesson. I just wanted a little help. Period.

Screenshots can be prosecuted the same as downloads. Our sites, even review sites, count as 'commercial use.' The best way to get images is to purchase the license. If an image doesn't appear on a site selling images, it's off limits. Even most of the 'free image' sites are problematic. That's why they have instituted free image search here at WA - they have licenses for us to use those photos.

If I see an image I 'absolutely' have to have, I email the site owner and ask them where I may procure a license for the image. Most of the time, this request falls on deaf ears, which is why I do my own photography and purchase images from Adobe Stock photos and other reputable image sites. This is just a cost of doing business.

Thank you, that is much clearer. I found the "free" sites listed in the lesson to be complicated and confusing. I do have several of my own photos. But as I am not in my chosen niches' field any longer, I do not have the ability to capture the variety of photos that I would like.

I do appreciate your help. Thanks again, Heather

I have a comment on my site, I Clicked on "REPLY" I wrote somethings. Then I clicked on APPROVE, Then on SEND, (or was it REPLY) I really don't remember but the point is a mess

When you log into the Wordpress for your site, you'll see a link on the LEFT to COMMENTS. When you click on this, you'll see all your comments.

When you hover over the comments you'll have the options to approve, reply, trash, etc.

Hey thanks, I have pushed my self to start pushing buttons to see what they do but didn't want to screw that one up. Thanks again
Heather

You'll need to approve and reply. Approve is to accept and publish the comment and Reply is to respond to the comment.

Thanks for explaining. I wonder why I got that message about it would be erased and I would not be able to retrieve it. I will take another look at it. Thanks for the help,. Heather
