IRS Refund Schedule 2020
Tax refunds can be a big deal - especially when you are digging out of holiday debt. Many people forget that a tax refund can be a source of needed cash. If you have a refund coming, don't wait until the tax filing deadline to file. Why wait until April? File as early as possible to get that quick boost of cash. But, how early can you file?
The IRS has not officially announced exactly when it will start processing tax returns from 2019. But, you can expect them to begin on or around January 20-21, 2020 based on years past. If you eFile your taxes, most refunds are available in three weeks or less. At least, that was how long it took on average for last year's refunds to be processed.

I wish the UK was like this.. I watch Judge Judy ( sorry... I know that’s a terrible admission) and she talks about tax refunds, as do the people that go on the show.. and they use the refunds to settle debts as an expected windfall every year. We don’t have that in the UK, although very occasionally HMRC will send you a cheque. I had a PPI that was missold that was finally refunded this year, but they automatically paid tax on it without first checking my tax status. So I expect I will get that refunded, but not until the next Tax year- April 2021!
