Unpopular Opinion -Don't Shoot Me!

Having just finished the training courses (I just have to write my goals) I want to say this. I think the training courses should be updated. In some cases, they have not been updated in more than five years. Five years???!!! I am grasping my pearls.
Changing TechnologyI know that technology changes quickly. It has been said that the training courses would have to be updated all the time to keep up with technology. It is true that technology changes quickly. I understand that it is a challenge to keep up with it. But it would not have to be changed all the time. Just sometimes.
If we never changed our technical processes because they change all the time, we may still be using manual typewriters or using shorthand. Remember shorthand?
The training was a daunting task at times because the lesson being taught did not match what is going on today. When I researched from the help tab, I learned that affiliates asked the same questions that I did years ago. So, I am not an outlier.
I realize that we have live training and classes available that would probably coincide with old training. This, however, is not something new affiliates know how to connect with the lesson they are in at that time.
A SuggestionPerhaps updating the training gradually could be a reasonable solution to make it more relevant to today's standards.
I wonder if the more experienced affiliates could rewrite the outdated courses. An incentive could be tied to this. It may motivate them to contribute to WA’s growth and improve the quality of the training. What do you think about this idea?

Hands Up...Don't Shoot!So, please don’t shoot me. I said at the beginning, this may be an unpopular opinion. I am applying what was taught to me here...to write on controversial topics.
So, I think I have done that here.
In closing, even with being frustrated at times, I have learned so much. I have learned that a supportive community exists here. I intend to stay and be as much of a help to others as the affiliates have been to me.
This is just my opinion and I state it because I think it may be worth considering.

Hazel, I think you have some valid points and some good ideas. I'd run into some problems as well, when I went through the training, and sometimes had to ask someone else in the community for some clarification.
I can understand how hard it must be to find time to do all the updating, so perhaps your idea of cross-linking to other sources is a good one. That would get changes made without having to rewrite everything, saving some valuable time.
Hopefully, things will eventually get updated.

I have considered re-doing the training but having reviewed a few classes, I saw that it would be better to review some of Jay's videos instead.
Time being scarce! I see and appreciate new trainings or blogs about updates every day. And don't have the time to review, every day.

Yeah, Dianne. I already decided that I am going to review my notes. I am going to check out some of the more updated videos. As you say, I just did not know to do that initially. Thanks for your comment.

Hi - as regards other members rewriting the training, I suspect that would attract the same incentive currently on offer for member-generated training.
Which is currently an initial $5!
Even if it takes a couple of hours to write something really in-depth with appropriate screenshots.
Eventually, if the training is popular and attracts likes and comments, you might get another $10.
However, I am aware that there are changes being introduced to the training platform, but possibly not until the end of the year.

Great post, Hazel, and I think you have expressed it well.
You're right the training does need to be updated frequently in order to keep up but not to worry, it will still be there whether updated or not. It's good that we have lots of training available in order to help enhance our online business.

Hazel, the step by step training is the basic on the learning phase. The webinars they provide sharpens the basic knowledge that you learned from the training! The classes the WA experts provide are the updates on the basic training you got.
As you successfully have completed the training, the learning does not stop there! It continues on!
And if you stumble on updates that you would like to share to the community, you are most welcome to do that.
