Slow Money Beats No Money

There's some rap star wisdom for you today. Brought to you by T. I. from my workout playlist. Funny enough, these lyrics actually did get me thinking. I'm sure many are also familiar with the "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems" lyric as well. I think this can also be true. It's all about balance.

If I wanted to make money quick I'd get another job

The above part is true. I am a pharmacist. It would be fairly easy for me to seek out a per diem opportunity where I'd make a great hourly rate and then commit to working extra hours on top of my 40 hour-a-week gig that I have now.

But that's not why I'm here. If fast money was my singular goal, I'd find a second job. I'm looking for something else. A creative outlet, new skills, a supportive community, and a hobby. Those are what I'm most after. Let's be real, it's hard to get creative working in a hospital pharmacy unless I'm trying to figure out how to deal with the next drug shortage issue (and this type of creativity isn't something I would call FUN).

If I can monetize some of these goals and make some income to help pay off my student loans faster that would be the icing on the cake. In fact it, is one of my goals, too. I just don't think it's my primary goal at this point.

I'm just starting out and just starting to build my site. And guess what? It has NOTHING to do with the medical field. Hooray!

I imagine it will be quite some time until I even have the opportunity to earn any money from this. But for now I'm going to commit to finishing the training. Even if no money ever comes from it, at least I'll have learned a new skill.

Merry Christmas Eve all!

Hannah

Thanks your first post, you did it very well.

Great post Hannah! I agree with you here: if a person's only goal is to make money quick, they should find a second job.

If their goal is to build a brand or business for the long run, then they'll have to learn to delay gratification.

We've been accustomed to getting paychecks every two weeks in exchange for a set number of hours worked.

That isn't how entrepreneurial endeavors work.
What we do is take on incredible risk for the chance of incredible rewards for our efforts.

So it's not the easy path, but it's the path work taking.

If we fail, it's our fault, but if we succeed, that is also our fault haha

Plus, we get to explore our passions at the same time.
The chance to create something and possibly benefit from that creativity sometime in the future?

For folks like us, it's a risk worth taking.

Once again, great post. Thanks for sharing it with us, I appreciate it!
