Organization is Key - Tips for Beginners
I'm about two months in to my journey here at Wealthy Affiliate. I have two domains- one related to the niche I chose and one for the make money online niche. I have decided to pursue the make money online niche for now and so I am continuing on with bootcamp and putting my other site on hold. To be honest, I lost interest in it a bit a likely picked it too soon.
My make money online site has a spin on it that is near and dear to me- getting rid of student loans! So as it turns out, having student loans is something I can relate to, speak to others about, and there are things I have learned that I can education others on all while promoting Wealthy Affiliate at the same time.
Back to the Point
Organization. I have 6 posts on my site now and have decided to create a plan that allows me to write when I feel like writing, not just when I'm ready to publish. This way I can have drafts for various posts saved and when the timing is right I can finish them up and publish. Hopefully I can publish a post at least twice a week- that is my goal for now while working full time.
However- just about the time I started with Wealthy Affiliate my subscription to Microsoft Office expired! So I was having difficulty creating folders and saving items.
Then it dawned on me.
Use Google Drive
I have a G-mail account. This means I have a Google drive that I can access from any computer. This can be used to create spreadsheets and documents similar to Microsoft Office and I can organize things into folders.
I've never really used Google Drive all that much. It mostly came in handy for me during school as it was an easy way to share documents with classmates. Highly recommend this for group projects and study groups!
The SiteContent platform is great, but for me it doesn't work well as a place to store drafts. I prefer to copy things into the SiteContent platform and edit them there prior to publishing rather than starting there from scratch. This is just personal preference, so you have to do what works for you.
My Task Today
My task today is to get myself organized. I'm going to create a separate folder for articles I've published to my site, and another folder for articles in process. Even with only 6 articles on my site I'm already getting confused what has been published and what is in process.
I'm also going to start a list of possible article topics based on keyword searches that have high traffic and low competition. I'll likely run the numbers again before I write the post if it's been awhile, but at least I'll have ideas all in one place rather that on various pages in my notebook.
If you're new here and haven't done this yet, I encourage you to get organized as well! Whether you use Microsoft Office, Google Drive, or another mechanism, a little time getting organized now will save a lot of time in the future.

I’ve recently started using Google Docs and love it. It was a bit of a learning curve but being able to access it from anywhere is a real plus.
Also if you use their headers when you copy and paste to your site the headers remain, so no having to redo them :)
And it has the talk to text function that works quite well. I can’t get the hang of it, seems I clam up when I’m talking to a blank screen lol, but I’m hoping to use that a bit more too.

Thanks! I will look into the headers function, didn't even realize that. I'm also curious about the talk to text function. I'll give it a try but bet I'll have the same problem with freezing up. Worth a try though :)

Great advice Hannah - I do have Office 360 but I'm also going to check out Google Drive.
