Social media and a few thoughts
So what's the big deal about being social
There are many ideas about a simple product that solicit some strange responses.
Social media is a money machine, no, not for you for the owners as they grab all your details and sell them to someone who wants you to part with your money. Pretty simple really.
To do this they get to the KNOW part of the process and quickly move to the TRUST formula as you see the pretty pictures and nice stories.
We all get channeled into the vortex because everyone is doing it.
Don't get me wrong, I have Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram because it is my market to make money from.
I look at all the media as a channel to my website, I don't always get it right but it does provide the ever needed traffic with which we can't live without.
Why do I have a website, actually to sell stuff to others so we make the money go round.
I put links on my media about my posts so they walk in to see me but I never say " hi duck over to my Facebook page" and get lost as you find a bundle of pretty stories that take you into the web.
Try going to YouTube without clicking another story that pops up. Impossible, at least for my wondering mind.
However, the world is about to change. Social media will do a 180 degree turn in the coming 12 months and become a sales outlet.
Why would this be?
Instagram, owned by Facebook group is running a Beta trial in the USA with top 100 companies having a BUYNOW button under the picture. The button takes you to fullfilment and the product is yours.
Instagram is the new market Darling and if this trial escalates we are in for one hell of a sleigh ride. I wonder how long it would be before Facebook follows and even Messenger.
All our sales being done on not so Social Media.
Don't get me wrong I like the idea in principle but I fear it will change things too far. As a selling tool, fantastic but will I be looking for my kids photos or a cheap pair of Nike runners as the world changes.
Social media has been a funnel to your business, now the reverse maybe your fate.
If you are not using Instagram perhaps it might be a good time to start. When the changes come be on the front foot and ready to run.
Armageddon it is not but talk to me in 12 months about a new Internet world. I shake my head in wonder,
