Marketing the hard way
I went to the Royal Agricultural show and worked a stall.
That's right. Manning a sales booth and toe to toe selling for 6 straight hours.
That's old fashion marketing the hard way at its best and let me tell you it was fun.
It was a release of all the old selling skills to be a quick closer.
The interesting part was working with the young and very keen Uni students
who had all the gab but forget to listen.
At Wealthy Affiliate we work in the digital world on a daily basis.
Blogging, sending emails, Writing content or building online stores .
Rarely having to really talk to anyone other than by the keyboard and do we forget
the basics of selling or do we just mass market.
The game is actually the same all that changes are the tools we use
Why would an old guy like me go back to the boardwalk and spend a few days coercing the passing trade into a conversation. It was a favor for a close friend which became an enjoyable experience.
We did all the usual planning and set up our KPI's that were to be achieved. Each day we had a target that had to be achieved to be financially viable and lifted our efforts when traffic was slow.
We did exactly what we do online to get a result in a team effort.
In fact, we spent a lot of time trying Keywords, the opening words to start a dialogue.
People are ambling past looking at booths with all sorts of glitz and we are selling a high priced domestic product.
We had just one chance to start a dialogue so we had to chose wisely but it is very hard to pick demographics or target audiences.
OK, we deleted under 25 and over 65 and those with too many kids in tow, A bit hard to hold their attention with half a dozen rug rates wanting a sugar fix.
Then we tried words that would get attention followed by a conversation.
Does that sound like a Keyword and Meta description in blogging.
We then agitated the problem and presented a solution.
Maybe the world has changed but marketing still has rules from way back.
I enjoyed the experience and my Knees will recover from the 6 hours straight standing and delivering over several days

Thanks for sharing and glad you enjoyed the experience. We have a local business market twice a week in my town and I usually have a trapse through, having a chat, getting some freebies and round it off with a Pint!... As you say its enjoyable
