I love a good hero story and not many will reach this level.

Steve Smith is an Australian cricket player, ex captain and one of the world's best batsmen.

At the height of fame Steve and two others were accused of ball tampering and banned from the game for two years.

Steve returned to international cricket in a test match between England and Australia started yesterday 01-08 -2019

Steve arrived at the crease with Australia falling in a heap, three wickets down and half a dozen runs on board.
As Steve walked onto the ground the crowd lowdly booed him and called him as a cheat.

He had to discover an inner strength to over-come the hysteria that followed him on every game he played particularly overseas.

Players t practice in the Nets before a game. His team-mates were a bit over him because he wanted bowlers going at him for well past normal practice. In fact Coach Justin Langer said we all went down on our knees and said thank you when we could finish a session.
Every missed ball was analyzed and the work went on.

Back to the game, The bowlers were swinging balls everywhere, wickets were falling, rain was interrupting play and the booing continued.

Steve left the wicket achieving 144 runs, around half the Australian score in an innings hailed as one of the best ever played in cricket. He was not booed from the ground having demanded and achieved respect.

He played a part in the ball tampering and accepted his fate.
Steve served his time without complaint.
Then he came back and worked much harder and longer at his role as a batsman
He achieved the recognition of every cricket lover in the world.

There are lots of life lessons in the story.

Knocked down, blamed himself, did his penance and worked his way back to glory.

Well done Steve Smith a great example of overcoming adversity in the best possible way.

He is not one of my favorite cricketers but I admire his determination to succeed and hush the mouths of his critics.

Thanks, Russel.

It is a love/hate thing for the person but my point was more on overcoming adversity in sport or here at WA.

I Like to see winners that achieve through self beliefe.
I have written before on Tiger Woods and Connor McGregor who have gone outside the square and this is another to my list.

Kind regards

Peter H

Overcoming adversity is a major challenge that many of us face. The main rule is not to give up.

Irrespective of how good he is the man is a common cheat. As far as I am concerned they should have been banned for life, but no, that won't happen because there is too much money involved.

Once again proving money is the root of all evil.

bit harsh Derek, ball-tampering has been done by every country at one time or another but that aside I am not sure how money comes into my story on SPORT,

These days they are all paid. It is their profession. To me, sport and professional should never appear in the same sentence. Sport is not something you should be paid for.

The cheating takes place to get the largest amount of money you can from any game by building up your bonus points.

Ball-tampering is cheating. I don't follow sports anymore because they all just play for money - and they all cheat in the process.

Hi Peter!
Yes Steve Smith is a worlds best batsman. I like the article.
Good luck

A good motivating story, Peter.
Here are two quotes I wanted to share with you. Hope you like it:

"Push harder than yesterday if you want a different tomorrow."

"Forgive them, even if they are not sorry."

All the best, Peter and may God bless you.
