Sitemaps
If anyone else has been having a hard time getting a sitemap submitted to Google Webmaster Tools, you may want to try installing the following plugin: Google XML Sitemaps
Then when you got to Google Webmaster Tools and try to submit your sitemap, just put "sitemap.xml" in the add/test sitemap box.
So you'll see http:///yoursiteurl.com/sitemap.xml.
Then submit your sitemap, refresh the page and with any luck you'll have a sitemap submitted with no issues like 404 errors.
It helped me solve the problem. I hope it works for you too.

What I should do now?
Sorry that didn't work for you, Anjana. I'm afraid I won't be able to help you then. However, quite a few people have issues with this problem and members here provide a variety of solutions. Look for 'sitemaps' in the search bar at the top of the page and see what comes up. Good luck!
