Keywords and Google Index

I'm going to provide a sample of something I've had happen that I'm struggling to understand. Below is the Jaaxy data and below that is where my post ended up in a google search. Bear in mind that being at the very beginning of the process, I'm happy to see my posts being indexed at all. However, using some basic knowledge on keywords, the first one should have indexed higher than the second due to less competition. What are your theories for why they came out this way? Thanks,

Keyword 1 Jaaxy: 112 monthly searches, 5 QSR

Keyword 2 Jaaxy: 144 monthly searches, 67 QSR

Keyword 1 google index: page 9

Keyword 2 google index: page 4

Thanks boomer! I was aware of this and did check it in private browsing since I use the Firefox browser. I'm sure there is an explanation for this happening with the google index, and am trying to understand what it is and how I might be able to avoid it in the future.

Then I would say the reason Keyword 2 is on page 4 is because it has more monthly searches and it also depends on how the content is written. You can have a very low QSR keyword but if the content isn't written correctly the low QSR will not mean a thing.

It all comes down to content and how it is written that will determine how your pages get ranked. You do not even have to use a targeted keyword to get highly ranked. As Kyle has said, "keywords are not the be all and end all of your website and content development."

First off when you searched for your keyword in Google did you just type your keyword into Google? If so you searched for it wrong and the results you got may not be accurate.

In order to do an accurate search in Google for a keyword or long tailed keyword you must be searching in a Private Browsing mode. If you are using...

Google Chrome you must be in Incognito Mode
Firefox you must be in Private Browsing
Internet Explorer you must be in InPrivate Browsing

Because Google places cookies on your hard drive when you first search for a keyword whether it be on their website or a website that uses a Google search like Jaaxy or the WA Keyword Tool, Google will know what you are searching for and will skew the results to favor what you have searched for in the past.

So to avoid this feature you have to be in one of the private browsing modes, because logging out of Google will not prevent the search feature from happening as it is also tied to your ISP address.

Thanks for sharing that boomer--I was not aware of that!

You're welcome Kelly. Many people aren't aware of it and will get the wrong results when doing a search for their keywords in Google. That's why I wanted to make sure Halke realized it, which he did.

wow great tip boomer!

You are welcome Peter
