Can We All Succeed? Indeed!

VitaliyG inspired me to write about a situation that he triggered with his blog:

Basically, he posed the question, "If so many people are creating blogs and websites in the same niche, can we still succeed? To which I say a resounding, "YES, INDEED!"

Y'know, it's funny. I was just talkin to my best and oldest friend today. I have often run ideas for articles for my website by him. So I was a little miffed when, out of the blue, today, he tells me he had "a revelation". He says he's going to write a book. His book is basically taking a lot of ideas directly from our conversations - and my website. He unwittingly was taking my niche ideas and making them his own.

At first, I panicked. Suppose he does it better? Truth be told, he is an excellent writer and storyteller. But, so am I. Geez, why wouldn't he at least suggest a collaboration instead of doing it all on his own?

As a matter of fact, I suggested that after he finishes his book, that perhaps he would consider contributing a chapter or an original article to my site and I would help with a reciprocal link to his website, since I've been at it a while and I am already getting results in the search engines. I could even post a review of his book. You know what they say... a rising tide raises all boats.

But, then I realized... he may never even follow through with this book. He's always chasing shiny objects and tomorrow, he'll be back to talking about opening a music school or going on the road with a ten piece band. Or getting his songs published. Or going on the road and selling CDs at house concerts across the country. Because that's how he rolls.

Actually, I hope he does follow through with his music. Some of his songs are killer.

This isn't the first time I've given him an idea, which he conveniently forgot about; then two weeks or a month later, comes to me with the same idea as if he just thought it up himself.

So what I do? I smile, knowing that I had the original thought - and I'm getting it done, one step at a time.

Hey, I've even told him about Wealthy Affiliate. Several times! In fact, I can't wait till the day he finally signs up for the free trial and calls me to tell me all about WA as if he was the one who "discovered it".
