Plan ahead before going Premium
Wealthy Affiliate is a great comprehensive platform for an online business. It gives all users access to an unlimited free account where they can take level 1 training and build two websites. But a Premium account is the holy grail that provides access to the top features and functions available on the platform. The cost for a premium WA account is $19 for the first month special offer, and then $49 every other month. Here are some of the things you get with a premium account:
- 50 Websites (25 Rubix sites, 25 for custom domains)
- Unlimited custom email accounts
- Keyword research tool
- Website analysis
- Extensive training
- And more….
I have not seen any other platform where you can get 50 websites for such a price. With my previous hosting company I had to pay a separate charge for each custom email account (and it wasn’t little). The keyword research tool is icing on the cake – check online to see what others charge for that alone; you will be surprised. In a nutshell WA Premium is very competitively priced.
Nevertheless, going for a WA Premium account can be a major decision, because spending $49 every month can be a challenge for many people, especially if there is no immediate return on the expense. As I have explained on a different post, it does take time to start generating a regular income online. Therefore, it is important to be prepared to pay for the premium account on your own for a certain period. Depending on a person’s income or savings, it may be impossible to ever get in a position to afford the expense. I have put this strategy together as a possible solution for such situations.
1. Refer 3 People who are likely to go Premium
WA pays a monthly commission of $8 for the first month $19 special offer, then $23.50 thereafter; for every new user who signs up through your account and goes premium. That means if you refer 3 people, the monthly commission fully covers your cost.
However, there are a couple of things to remember. To qualify for the commission, you must already have a premium account. On the other hand, the people whom you are likely to refer may also be in the same financial situation as you, meaning that it will also be challenging for them in the long term to afford a premium account, in which case they will eventually drop out and you will be back to square one. Therefore, I will not dwell on this strategy because it can easily become a catch twenty-two.
2. Become a Web Designer for small businesses
STEP 1 - Work on your Design Skills
Plan to become a web designer for small businesses in your area. An Internet presence is currently a must for any serious business owner, whether small or big. Small businesses often lack the resources to afford the services of web designers.
To become a web designer you need skills – take full advantage of your free unlimited account by taking all level 1 training and practicing to design websites using the two free Rubix sites that come with your account.
STEP 2 - Do Some Market Research
Once you are confident with your design skills you will be ready to start promoting yourself. Before promoting your skills you must do a little market research. Check out what web designers are charging in your area or country for a website.
Your target market should be family shops that have small budgets, or other small businesses. Talk with prospects to know what will be affordable for them. Remember you will be getting 25 custom domain websites. Estimate the number of websites you will need to design to finance your WA premium account. When doing your pricing remember to include the charge for the domain name.
STEP 3 - Design Sample Websites for Target Customers
Once you identify a potential customer design a site (using siterubix) that would be suitable for their business, then show them the site and explain how it can benefit their business. Wait to get your first website customer before signing up for premium. Ask them to provide at least three names for a domain, in case some of the names are no longer available.
Once you go premium you will have 25 siterubix sites available. Keep up with the same strategy – use your rubix sites to design sample websites for target customers and use them as bait to get the sale. Once the sale is made you can move the site to a custom domain.
Always explain to target customers the benefits of having a website for their business. I will take the example of a barber shop or hairdresser salon. They can use a website to show the different hairstyles they make, as a showcase for their skills.
I will be glad to answer any questions
