AI apostophy and quotation marks issues
Hello everyone,
I wanted to bring to your attention an issue with the Wealthy Affiliate AI writing platform, where quotation marks are displayed as a mixture of straight and curly. Articles I have written within the AI section have created these marks and highlighted them because they are inconsistent.
Currently, this setting cannot be changed within the Wealthy Affiliate AI tool because it defaults to American English. However, I was able to find the setting within my premium Grammarly account.
Click on the 'writing logo' tab on the left-hand side, scroll down until you see Team Preferences, and at the top of the team settings, there will be the 'apostrophe and quotation marks' box with 'explanation' and 'category'.
On the left-hand side, you will see a drop-down box that gives you the option to choose either straight, curly, or no preference.
Hope this helps anyone who has had the same issue.
Louise

Hi, Hair 121.
Why can't AI and I just get along?
I start to write something, and it just takes over.
Thank you for your post.
AI apostrophy and quotation marks issues.
The word you're looking for is "apostrophe," not "apostrophy." An apostrophe is a punctuation mark (') used to indicate possession, contractions, or the omission of letters. It's commonly used in English grammar, but the misspelling "apostrophy" is also sometimes used, especially in the context of a privacy-focused mobile ecosystem called Apostrophy.

I mean no harm and offer my limited guidance.
Take good care.

Hi Louise!
Thanks for sharing your issues with apostrophe and quotation marks! I was raised in a country that was British influenced so our writing and spelling are still pretty much British influenced.
Have an awesome day! Wishing you the very best!
Kind regards,
Nichola
Hey Nicola! Thanks for commenting. Enjoy your day too. Almost over here in the UK.
Best wishes
Louise ☺️
I think the difference comes from US English styles vs British English styles.
Typically the curly quotes are used for quoted text and the single apostrophe quotes are used inside double quotes, but that can sometimes change with US vs British English.
As an example, using the text in your question, it’s just as correct to use them like:
At the top of the team settings, there will be the “apostrophe and quotation marks” box with “explanation” and “category”.
It’s cool though that you found that setting with your Grammarly to be able to choose your distinct style. Nice catch 👍🏼
Thanks Eric.
I found that every time Grammarly wanted to correct the inconsistent apostrophes etc, and I accepted it, the whole article would end up with duplicate errors and a jumble of quotations that took so long to correct!
Pleased that I’ve found a solution 🙌
