I have figured out how to make my About Glenda the homepage. All of my categories are at the bottom of the page. I want them to be in a sidebar of my homepage.

Hi there,

If I understand your question correctly you do not have a sidebar on your About page - is that correct?

If so, and if your theme offers it, you can change the template for that page to one that has a sidebar. If your theme offers different templates they will be listed under a drop-down menu on the right side of your post/page edit screen.

Click the drop-down, select a template with a sidebar and then you can add the categories widget to it from the Appearance > Widgets screen.

Cheers,

Martin.

You can go to your back office in your website, and find appearance. Click on it and you will find widgets, and put a category widget in your website.

Glenda, if you go to Appearance-->>Widgets on your Wordpress dashboard left menu, you can pull a Category widget over into your sidebar.

Change: I want a side bar on homepage with my categories?

Fleeky has helped me change my website so that only my About Glenda information is on the homepage. I want to create new pages and put posts I have written on the appropriate p

There are two things here:

1. Having a listing of your posts appearing on one page. In a default WordPress installation this is the Home page and is sometimes called the Blogroll.

2. Adding a single post to a page.

If you're trying to achieve #1 then you need to add a new Page and call it Blog, but do not add any content.

Then go to your Settings > Reading screen and select that page you just created from the drop-down menu against the 'Posts page'.

There has to be a very good reason to achieve #2.

Normally single posts each appear on their own 'page' (except that in WordPress terms it's called a Post).

If you have written a post that you actually want to be a page, because it's not going to change and you want it in the menu, then the best option is to copy all the content and paste it into a new page.

If your post has already been published and indexed then you should redirect the permalink to the new page, which you can do with the Redirection plugin.

However, as I said up front, there has to be a very good reason for doing this.

Let me know if I need to clarify anything.

Cheers,

Martin.

You're very welcome and sure, happy to (at least attempt to) answer any questions :)

Cheers,

Martin.

I just join as an Amazon affililate and added links to this page. Please review and comment.

Hi - your website is very difficult to read with your chosen colour scheme. Black font on a white background is recommended for the best reader experience.

You don't have an Affiliate Disclosure which is mandatory.

I was unaware of the need for an Affiliate Disclosure. Either I missed it on haven't gotten to it in the training. Can you be more specific? I appreciate your comments.

Hi - by law, you have to inform potential customers that you earn a commission if they purchase something having clicked on one of your links. There is a template in Site Content which you can use.

Thank you.

I posted the disclaimer as a post on the home page. Does it have to be included on every page that contains affiliate merchandise?

Hi - your site looks so much cleaner now with the change of colour scheme.

Ideally, you should have a top navigation menu, where you add your disclosure and your privacy policy, plus you can then categorise your posts, to save people having to scroll all the way down to see what articles you have. Here is some training on creating menus.

Thank you so very much. Creating menus is one of the goals for improving my website. I tried just using the tool bar in WordPress but was unsuccessful. You don't know how much I appreciate the link you sent.

What do I do when the bullets and type size buttons do not work in the content building area?

Try a different web browser like Firefox or chrome to rule out a browser/plugin issue.

That is what I did and it worked. Thank you.

Awesome...probably clearing your cache on the other browser will fix it there too. If not, it might be an extension or plugin for that browser causing the issue.
