To Index or Not Index Pages.

Continuing on from yesterday where I saw a reference to having your affiliate disclaimer and privacy pages set to Index.

From memory we are advised in the training to save the settings of our pages to No Index.

And that is pretty much what I have done, and I have barely given them another thought.

I have always had my About me set to Index though, as it changes often.

The site I read about having your disclosures and privacy pages set to Index, is the facebook page of SEO plugin developer Rank Math.

Which, I believe has to taken as an authority on the subject.

Here is what they say... Quote..."
It is actually recommended to have pages like ToS, Disclaimer, Privacy policy, Indexable.

Those types of pages give your website authority, because Google knows that spammers do not add those pages. You must show them ( search engines), that you have a real website with real content and all the essentials that a legit website has". End Quote. I added the highlighted words.

So make those pages Index and leave them as Follow.

I have seen the question of what should be No Index raised every now and the on the WA blog, and the default position has always been to use the settings as given in the training.

So, which pages should we have set as No Index...

These...

Affiliate links, Sponsered links, Tag Archives (for most sites), author archives, attachments, my account, cart, checkout pages.

With Google and Bing constantly updating their algorithims, staying in front of the curve can be challenging at times.
