Earn Commission When You Buy Your Domains at 1and1 Domain.

In case you didn't know, 1and1 Domain allows its affiliates to earn commissions on the domains they purchase for themselves through their own affiliate links.

They pay $2.50 commission for each domain purchased. You become an affiliate with them through Commission Junction (CJ) [www.cj.com].

It's important that you go through CJ and get your affiliate link before you buy your domains. When you buy a domain through 1and1, you will be given a link for their "refer a friend" program. This is not the same as the commission-earning link that you need.

Once you get YOUR affiliate link from Commission Junction, you can place it anywhere on your blog or website. Whenever you get ready to purchase a domain from 1and1, go to your site and click through from your link. Usually within a day or so, you can see the $2.50 in your CJ account.

And remember, with 1&1, the privacy option is free as opposed to paying six dollars for it at GoDaddy. The only thing is at 1&1, you have to manually select the privacy option, so be sure to look for the radio button where you can do this.

Under CUSTOMER DETAILS when you get ready to pay for your domain, you will see these three choices:

Use the above data to register your domain?

Create new contact data to register your domain?

Register your domain privately? More Information

Choose this last option for domain privacy.

Great :)

Sorry to sound dumb, but what are DNS settings?

Hi rreppy, no need to worry about sounding dumb. DNS stands for domain nameservers. And they pretty much are what the name implies. Your domain name has to be served by or assigned to the place where your website is hosted. In our case, WA is hosting our sites, so we have to point our DNS to WA hosting. That way, WA becomes the domain name server instead of the place where we bought the domain. This is the best I can do to explain it, and hopefully, better explanations will come along. In the meantime, if you go to the query box at the top of this page and type in "dns," there are a number of tutorials and blogs that may give you better information than I.

I'm sure that if you found the time, your training modules would far surpass mine. I'm glad you enjoy my modules. I'm thinking about either updating them or making new ones as well.
You're really a writer though? truth be told that's sort of a dream of mine! Hopefully I'll make it there some day.

You have lots of very informative blog posts Golden, why don't you turn them into training modules and maybe make a little extra income? or at least make WA a little easier to pay for! Anyway, I'm impressed with your posts! Keep them coming!

Thanks, TrevorSH, for your comments. I wish I had time to create a training module. I haven't learned how to do a screenshot yet, plus the TM has to be at least four pages long. I'm a writer, and right now, I'm getting my first story ready for publication. What a job! Book covers, a book trailer, e-book uploads, audio auditions--so many things to be done. So I do have a training module in mind, but I'll have to wait a while. But I always, always, always enjoy your training posts, and I'm using them when developing my web content.

Thanks for me too GoldenLady. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing. I never new 1&1 let you register domains privately for free. The last time I registered a domain there it seemed like it took it a long time to update the DNS records whenever I changed the nameservers. Godaddy seemed a lot faster.

What's been your experience with this?

I think it took about two hours--maybe not even that long. And GoDaddy is quicker sometimes. But I usually purchase a domain, change the DNS and then work on my content. I do a lot of editing so by the time I finish, the change is usually complete. Besides, I didn't want to pass up the sale price, and I bought several domains that I don't need to use right away.

yeah you definitely can't beat that price. :)

wow, awesome, than you very much! i'll buy 5 maybe...

Yes, it is a good deal. But they do have some kind of limit on how many you can buy at this price. Maybe it has to do with buying them all in one order. I'm not sure. I know I bought two yesterday and one, today. The special also includes the .net, I think.

Ok, I'll check this out, no problem.

Will do

Thanks Golden Lady

You're welcome. Please help spread the word.I don't know exactly how quickly people see these posts if they are not following me and supposedly the sale is over in two days.

Good find! Can beat 99cents!

can we buy a domain from CJ ?
