The Best Christmas Present...
God works in mysterious ways in one's life.
20 years ago I chose a life of drugs, alcohol and prison over my baby girl. I never intended for that to happen, but that is how it worked out. Upon realizing what I had done I drank more to kill the pain and found myself in a vicious cycle of regret.
7 years ago when I finally stepped out of prison sober for the first time in years, my first thought was to seek a relationship with my daughter. Fear stopped me for awhile.
Then I married the most awesome man, who felt my pain so deep he reached out his hand to Tiffany and started the conversation that fear had stopped me from doing.
Over the course of the next couple of years, we have built a long distance (2000 miles) relationship. Never having seen neither my daughter or grandson except in pictures, when 3 days ago my daughter reached out to us for help, I am happy to say I was finally able to be a mom and be there for her.
Now that I have officially held my daughter and cried so many tears of regret and healing together. We are moving forward and I get the proud title of Grandma Tracy. OH Boy, I forgot how much energy a 4-year-old has. We have lived a very peaceful life my husband and I. This is a huge change for us, but one I would not trade for the world. I can't thank God enough for the best Christmas present I have ever received. I have learned through the years of sobriety that if you dedicate yourself to whatever it is that drives you God will make sure it happens in his time. My dream has come true. Merry Christmas.

Thank you for sharing your story. You have been through a lot and are an inspiration to others who are struggling. Merry Christmas to you also!
I have been through a lot. Most of it my own making but I also see what a better person I am on the other side. I give thanks for the small stuff and cherish every moment I am given we just never know when things can change.
