I Did It, and, It Did It To Me

Success can be large or small, creating your first website, getting your first $0.26 commission or achieving rank within our platform. Lat night I had two small but significant successes. Sadly, neither of them were monetary. They were significant none the less.
My first success yesterday:
As some may be aware, last month I took a challenge, a 30 day challenge mind you, to write two chapters in my book within that time frame. This challenge came as the result of a conversation between myself, Partha (ParthaB) and Jeff (JeffreyBrown). Partha suggested the challenge, Jeff sort of prodded and encouraged me, and I took the bait and accepted. I'm proud to say I completed the challenge late last night, and a full 10 days ahead of schedule!
You might think that 2 chapters in a month seems doable, but for me, this and the schedule of other matters on my plate, it seemed daunting, but I forged ahead. It feels so good to have faced and completed this 30 day challenge proving to myself that with dedication and a few long hours, I could get 'er done.
My second success yesterday:
This came as the result of installing new software. Oh my, what a mess! I have a first generation OBD (on board diagnostic) device which I bought many years ago to trouble shoot a check engine light on my vehicle. I hadn't used that thing for more years than I could remember.
The check engine light came on in Wifey's truck, so I thought I would use the OBD to figure it out. Plugged it in, the truck computer talked to my little device, and an error code was received. All was well. So far.
The problem came when I plugged the device into my computer. It brought me to the company website, and wanted me to login. Fine, that's normal, so far so good. Then the site said I need the current software version, and it took me to the download page. Still, so far so good. I downloaded and installed the program, and that's when the problems started.
Browser stopped responding, browser locking up, and finally brain freeze, the whole computer locked up. Reboot. Called tech support. Come to find out that my device is so old, it isn't supported by the new software, and the old software which came with the device is no longer functional.
Off the phone now, and back to the computer, it locked up again. Reboot. I immediately ran Revo Uninstaller and got rid of the program, followed by a good deep clean of my registry and other things like temp file and cache. Reboot.
After many long hours of work, all is well and Oscar is happy once again. Oh, yeah, should mention that Oscar is the name of my computer. Geek confession, I name virtually everything I own.
Identifying the problem on the computer and fixing it, without losing any data was the second success of the day. Good thing I back up all of my work almost as soon as I finish it, because if the worst happens, I'll have my back ups available and retrieve the data on my laptop.
No matter how large, or small, a win is a win, and a win is success. Celebrate it!
