So I dropped off the radar right? Came in, guns blazing, and then disappeared like a torpedoed ship without leaving a trace. Hull now gathering barnacles at the bottom of the ocean. Sorry 'bout that. I have a good reason though I promise!

I may have mentioned somewhere along the line that I came into this group via my intention of creating my own range of adult colouring books. (Is it just me or does that always sound like they should be pornographic??? They're not, honestly!) Anyhow it's coming up to Xmas and I'm at the sharp end of my first project - all my designs are done and I'm now trying to work my way through the complex set of decisions around how to market my product. I need to get this first one right so I have a robust system moving forward - I have another ten books on the drawing board (well floating around loose in my mind anyway) so I don't want to disappear down a rabbit hole because of a poor choice now. I have over the past few months purchased a variety of books and courses on self-publishing. Have I missed something or do NONE of then actually give you all the information you need to complete the task? Wot the?!?!? So I'm left trying to figure it out for myself which is at times exciting but more often than not just makes me want to cry. Especially when I discover a new thing I didn't realise I was going to have to pay for.

Anyhow, I'm still trying to get my head around how this whole affiliate things fits in. My intention is to sell not only my own products but other peoples' products on my website, which is going to be about stuff that I find interesting... all loosely based around design, colour and creativity. (I am just going to have to assume enough other people will find it interesting enough to generate the traffic I'll need to build a viable list.) I'm sure it will make a lot more sense once I get my website done... that's another thing that has been put on hold these past few weeks.

Anyhow, looking back over my previous list makes me cringe with shame at how very little I have done since then to fulfil Tony's challenge. I haven't read or commented on any blogs, nor made contact with anybody. This is actually the first time I've even logged on to WA for over two weeks. I haven't meant to be rude. My days have been spent thus:-

  • Babysitting my 19 month old granddaughter while my daughter works (a temporary situation while she sorts out suitable childcare arrangements) - NOTHING gets done when there is a toddler in the equation
  • Creating designs for my first book
  • Manually colouring several designs for marketing purposes (I can frequently be found sitting up in bed at 0100 surrounded by Copic markers and glitter gel pens)
  • Liaising with a freelancer in Indonesia to digitise my designs into print-ready artwork
  • Spending hours analysing categories on Amazon to ascertain the best marketing channels for my books
  • Trying to work out how to build my Wordpress site (gave up in disgust... will probably outsource it to my guy in Indonesia)
  • Studying blog posts and video courses of other entrepreneurs who seem to know what they're doing in the hope that some of it rubs off
  • Deleting emails from annoying marketers to whom I foolishly gave my email address in a moment of weakness
  • Studying tutorials on how to use Adobe Illustrator
  • Not sleeping very much

It doesn't sound like a lot but it has taken up most of my time! I hope it's OK if I just drop in from time to time for a while until I get my project off the ground. Once that's done I can concentrate on all the great videos and tutorials available here on WA. There just aren't enough hours in the day at the moment!

Quite the opposite you seem to have a lot on your plate and I know from experience trying to get things done whilst having a toddler around can be a challenge , wish you every success with it all

Thank you so much. It's lovely to be able to reach out and have people send a virtual hug and nod of support. :-)

It sounds like you have been super busy! Awesome!

Thank you so much - and thanks for the follow. Following you right back now! :-) Best regards Gayle

Hi Gayle.....
Old trout? I don't think so, hahaha!!
Feel free to drop in whenever you're able, we all have "real world" lives that get in the way and I've been decorating my daughter's apartment for the last 4 weeks and I ain't finished yet!!
Good luck with your, ahem, adult colouring books.......you're certainly working hard at getting the project up and running so well done.
My wife stunned me recently by saying she wants an adult colouring book with a Christmas theme, I thought she was joking until I found out that these are big business these days so I hope you do well in your venture.

Ha ha - that must have been something of a surprise! I hope you found one for her (I'm pretty sure I've seen one with a Xmas theme on Amazon) :-) Thank you so much for the good wishes. I'll probably be so excited when it does go live that I won't be able to stop myself telling everyone at WA about it... :-)

Shout it from the rooftops Gayle!!!!

ps........Amazon have a couple so I got it sorted ;-)
