Christmas is Over and So is Distraction
I don't know about you but I had a really nice Xmas! I've eaten too much, watched a crap load of good movies on Netflix, received some nice presents and generally had a peaceful time but at the back of my mind I knew I wanted to get back to the business of building my business.
Now that the festivities are over and the left over food is in the fridge I can finally stop being distracted and pick up from where I left off :)
I've already made my new year resolution for 2020 which is simply to start as I mean to go on....
My 12 month plan starting today:
The first thing I want to do is upgrade to yearly to save some money and then reinvest that money in to my website, I'm going to...
- Write four to five quaity posts per week each month
- Make it a habit to share my content on my social media channels
- Close off all outside distractions (as best I can)
- Pull my finger out and get a YouTube channel started
- Rinse and repeat every month
At the stage I'm at the moment I'm not too concerned about making revenue, the only thing to focus on right now is building my reputation and diversifying my traffic sources and then the money will follow, I mean we shouldn't put all of our proverbial in to one basket right...
Even if I were to win the lottery tonight I would still want to build on my business to see how far it would take me.
My choice of niche is in the "start an online business" space:
The path I've chosen for my site is reviewing current and new online business opportunities which to my knowledge is a never ending source of content AND it's also evergreen content so if I'm correct it should last me for a lifetime!
There are, as we know, new business ventures arising online, scammy or not and I want to be the go to guy that people turn to when they want to read a trusted review on it.
In fact, if I could give anyone just one piece of advice it would be to be in a niche that's going to provide you with ideas for content 24/7 365 days a year :)
How are you going to push yourself and your business in 2020?
You've now heard my plans for my business in 2020, I'm going to be trying to keep it as simple and straightforward as possible. What about you, are you going to carry on as you have been or are you going to change things up? Or overhaul your way of thinking completey?
This brings me on to another question...
What are your true reasons for building your website and business?
If you think my asking is too intrusive you certainly don't have to tell me, but if you don't mind I'll going to divulge to you my reasons and they simply are so I can live in my own home instead of sharing a house with five other guys in a house share because that's all I can afford at the moment, and so I can have my daughter stay over with me who's six.
Also, as cliched as it sounds, I want to so bad to be financially independent so I don't have to rely on what quite frankly is pittance of a salary.
I would love to hear what your reasons are:
Again, it's up to you if you want to spill your reasons as to why you started this venture in the first place but I think the financial independence is a common trait that we all share.
I've probably said this before but what I love about WA is that we a true community and I think we have the kind of relationship where we can be open and honest with each other, this is why I feel comfortable asking :)
I wish us all the best success in the year ahead no matter what life throws at us..
To our success!
Warm regards,
Pete

Great post, Pete! Best success to you here in WA in 2020--My websites--one was a personal journal site, one was supposed to be an author site, my mmo site has the wrong title and my two locksmith sites lie neglected. My goal is to concentrate on one site and reboot my stagnant OEC training!
Jeff
Locksmith sites, interesting 🤘. My other site, which I've just started is in the niche of metal music, deathcore to be precise. My plan is to talk about the gigs I've been and planning to go to. I also want to monetize it be reviewing metal merch through sites like EMP and any other online outlets that sell all things heavy metal.
I hope you can bring your neglected sites back to life, keep me posted eh 👍.
Best of luck my friend!
Pete

Hey Pete, Great plan and yes, it is time to focus on 2020. Festive distractions will die down soon but as usual in life, gotta prepare for bumps and potholes along the way...
