I want to change the theme of my website, so I click on the WordPress link /change your theme completely/. A new window opens with the error msg: bad request. So, how does one
Good afternoon my friend, I want you to keep something in mind, you might want to just have a new website it confuses Google and if you had any followers at all it will confuse them also by changing your theme.

Go to Appearance > Themes > Add New and you'll find thousands of themes to choose from. Choose a New Theme
It's up to you to add the images and other content to make your site about whatever you wish.
Here's a little tip for you, David. Find a few horsey websites you like the look of and then check if they are using a WordPress theme via this link https://www.wpthemedetector.com/
