Setting up website

Hi everyone,

Nowadays i have been working on my website. Not easy at all. Even though i use Kyle's theme, somehow my custom settings are not the same. I searched a few internet pages about how to set up wordpress website. Still no answer so far. At the beginning, creating my website was fun. It was giving me satisfaction of "i did it!" Now? Sooo frustrating.

Any suggestions would be more than welcomed.

Cheers,

Kyra

Hi Gkyra
I am no expert but I will give you the benefit of my experience.
The themes can be a problem, so I chose to use 1721 and keep it simple.
The one with the flowerpot on the table
Put in the recommended plug-ins
The next thing I do is add a menu
take out as much as you can of the garbage.
Name the pages you want to put in your menu, you can adjust this later
and off you go, as examples I list my websites on my bio, allvitxxxxx is a good one
best of luck
John

Hi John,

Thank you for recommendation. I changed the theme as you suggested and you were right. The theme is exactly what wanted it. Just the pic isn't the one i want though. I am not in the stage of posting pics. Still learning... When i learn more, i am gonna check RICH's suggested themes website. At the moment, i better keep it as simple as possible.

Thanks again,

Kyra

Have a look at a theme like Customizr which is popular with many members at WA. https://wordpress.org/themes/customizr/

There's also extensive documentation on it here, which hopefully will make life easier when setting it up:

Thank you very much. I better check it. I noticed i have to use my laptop instead of ipad. iPad isn't handy when it comes setting up a website:( Oh well...if i have to, i will!

Thanks again :)

No probs. you're most welcome!

The most important factor in choosing a theme is that it should be truly responsive, capable of repurposing your site, regardless of the platform, operating system, browser or size of screen. You'll often find that over 50% of a site's traffic will come from mobile phones these days, so a theme that's truly responsive, like Customizr may be vital to your success.

You can do a lot on your iPhone and iPad, but some bits just don't respond to touch screens or are flakey in general on cut down operating systems, so probably for 10-20% you will have to use your laptop.
