Remember the 1989 film "Field of Dreams," starring Kevin Costner? The movie begins with Kevin standing out in his corn field when he hears the words "If you build it, they will come." Build what, and who will come? The first half or so of the movie is about his search for answers.

When he finally learns what he's supposed to build, which turns out to be a baseball field, he builds it, and they do come. The "they" are a bunch of old baseball players who were blacklisted from baseball for cheating and throwing games for money. One of these players has the name "Shoeless Joe Jackson," and one of them is Contner's father.

It's an awesome story, but it's just a movie. Unfortunately, it doesn't apply to our affiliate marketing business or our websites.

If we build it, they won't come. Not unless we work hard trying to optimize SEO, and learn how to use social media, and work hard and consistently adding content every day.

Too many of us, though, think that if we do build a website, and stock it with affiliate products, traffic will automatically find us, and we get disappointed and disillusioned when nothing happens.

Some of us get sucked in to the "get-rich-quick" scams that promise $500 in the first 30 minutes. I've seen the ads for some of those products. They make them tempting.

Lucky for us, Wealthy Affiliate gives us the training we need to succeed, and the WA community gives us the support and encouragement we need.

What a great combination!
