Understanding Search Engine Rankings

OK, I am seriously confused and challenged (a better word for 'frustrated') about getting my rankings improved across various search engines. For example, on Bing, when I did a key word search for my website there were 612,000 results and I was listed on the first page, yet doing the same search on Yahoo and Google ( admittedly their results were 20million+) I couldn't find my stuff anywhere.......

What do I need to do to change my strategy to improve my ranking? My content I believe is good as words are over 1,500 to 2,500 and I have internal and external links and a few images within my posts and pages......so what do I need to do?

I have Jaaxy and I've done training around key words, but something is clearly lacking with perhaps my use of keywords....any suggestions as to what links/training I should look at to help me with my search engine rankings, or as asked above is it something else I need to look at?

I look forward to your views and suggestions

Cheers Gina

Here are some examples of stop words Gina. Hope it gives you some ideas! http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/adsense-stop-words/adsense-stop-words.gif

Great info, thanks heaps Mike!

My pleasure as always Gina! :)

There are several possible issues. When you check ranking, do this incognito.

Writing great articles with very competitive keywords is pointless. Go for less competitive keywords, and pay attention to stop words which may be there, this changes QSR drastically. Check in my trainings and blogs how to choose keywords, and about stop words.

Thanks for your prompt response!

Silly question...I've tagged some of your training lessons on this very topic and there were some things I read a while ago around QSR vs. U?? and I don't know how to find those specific posts that I've saved/tagged!!
Any suggestions were I can look?

This is all in my profile, under trainings and blogs, easy to find.

But perhaps you used the star button in the search bar above, so click it again and you should see saved stuff.

Thank you:)
