What is SEO? SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization which essentially gives your site the popularity you surely would want. SEO is the term used on the internet to market your site through different types of methods which we will be discussing here. I will also teach you on how to improve your sites popularity by ranking it on search engines.

I will just be easing you out on the terminologies here in a manner you can comprehend. There are two forms of SEO in which you need to understand. One is called white hatand the other is black hat. You might have heard these terms before. Yes, a white hat SEO is using SEO techniques that follow orderly search engine guidelines. A black hat SEO uses such illicit techniques to rapidly increase site’s popularity. I would highly recommend using white hat SEO to index your website in search engines. We will not be talking about black hat SEO in this discussion as this will destroy the potential of your website since search engines are more capable of detecting unwarranted and illegal contents.

There are many techniques when doing SEO to increase your site’s rankings. Knowing them would help you in building and propagating your site. There are two types of SEO you need to know which are the On-Page and Off-Page Optimization. These are some of the techniques you will be using on the two types:

On Page Optimization

1.) Updating and optimizing you content

2.) Create links from webpage to webpage in your site

3.) Creating a sitemap for search engines

Off Page Optimization

1.) Blogging / Article Writing

2.) Social Media Bookmarking

3.) Forum Engagements

4.) Commenting on Blogs similar to yours

On-Page Optimization, just like its name indicate, is working your site’s content. This is by checking for keywords, content relevance, site ownership and other aspects that would lead to better site trust and all done in your own website without the need to link to other sites. The more relevant your content is to the structure of your website, the better the ranking you get from search engines.

Off-Page Optimization, on the other hand, is creating a conversation outside your site and into the site of similar webpages that would lead to back links into your site. This method is to introduce your site to other interested audiences while tapping the popularity of other sites. This is what blogs, articles, commenting to written topics/reviews and social media links do. You create some written topics which will be containing hyperlinks (hyperlinks are words that have the ability to open other websites if clicked) to your site. Just like this ONE. The “one” word highlighted in the previous sentence is a hyperlink which lead to a website called http://startonlinebusinessforfree.com.

This is how optimization is done to increase the traffic or visitors that go to your website and in turn increase the probability of you getting sales. Basically, this task is done by every website owner who wants their website to get ranked. Some site owners do it themselves (for more knowledgeable ones) and some hire SEO Specialists and pay them hourly rates to optimize their site content. There is no need to hire if you know how to write your own content and you will be saving money out of it. Writing content is not so bad at all. You just need to write what is in your heart coupled with the facts that you’re researched. One thing you need to understand, there are no perfectly written content. You can’t even distinguish a good content from a bad content if you hire someone to do it for you because you don’t know how to write them. So how are you going to check if the content passed to you from the person you employed is good?

The secret is just to write and write what you want to tell your niche about. Your aim is to connect with your audience with the facts and build trust. Once you establish trust from your audience, then you will begin to have a steady flow of traffic into your site. The first thing you put into your mind when writing your content is to help your readers and not to profit from them. If you start clogging your site with links and banners of ads and is not really relevant to your business is what makes you get flagged by search engines.

It is the experience that you give to your visitors that would make them want to return to your site. When you connect with them, you don’t just send them to other sites that they don’t want to be in. Make them want to know you as the business owner. A few grammar correction would suffice. Write with different words and not use the same words over and over. Utilize your dictionary and find related words so as to avoid redundancy.

Comment Section

Comment on posts that are similar to yours. Remember, you’re not the only one promoting a certain business. You also have competitors and these competitors might be there longer than you have and if you’re reading this, you probably haven’t started yet. Ride along with these tenured sites and introduce your link to them AFTER you have commented a very nice and engaging comment. Don’t just leave with these words like “great article”, “you nailed it” or “very informative” and expect the site moderators to just let you post them with your link. Be engaging with your comments and ask questions that makes the owners of these sites reply and start a dialogue. This way, you help them rank their sites and you rode along with their rankings as well. Pretty simple right? It is a basic knowledge on the internet. “Help and get helped” mentality is needed.

One of the widely used internet sites out there are social media websites which cater more than half of the world’s most browsed contents. You probably have your own social media account yourself. This is also a good platform to introduce your site and give out incentives to propagate your site through viral marketing. Notice a post or a video that got millions of views? It means that this content is still racking up traffic. Viral marketing works that way. The more popular the content to the audience, the more it is visited.

No matter what technique you use to promote your site, it is important to follow rules. That is why, I would suggest using a White Hat SEO method. It is slowly introducing your site to the general public but it surely will do its job. Concentrate on what you do best and you will be fine. Love it.

Thanks. :)

Where do I find the on-off optimization page?

On page is how you create content in your website and settle with those keywords you use. Off page is like outside your website where you promote your website by means of social media, paid ad or anything to increase your site's popularity.

I appreciate your blog on this info. I was wondering what SEO was used for. Thanks! I will read carefully. There is so much info that I keep printing everything out. Need time to get everything in order.
Thanks again!
Nancy
