Instant Gratification - A Quiet Reflection
During the last few days of each year I love to spend time thinking about how it was and what it will be like. On Black Friday of this year I jumped on the premium magic carpet ride after spending the last few years in the shadows thinking I could get this done on my own terms. After all I had a full time job which allowed me to live comfortably, I will make time on my own time I thought.
Most of us are the recipient of some form of instant gratification these days, either by choice or as a victim of what society has drilled into us. Well, I made a mistake, in full transparency, I made the mistake of thinking I could figure this out and circumvent all of what everyone else knew in place of what I thought I knew. I was wrong! Being wrong is not a bad thing, as a matter of fact it feels pretty good when you realize it on your own and make a needed course correction to make it right.
I can honestly say to each and every WA member that my instant gratification today comes from all of you. I know I can come here to the community, no matter the time of day, comment on a post, like a reply, submit a post of my own, provide some feedback on somebody's website, and in turn there are going to be all of these folks who sincerely appreciate you for just being a part of their day! Incredible right?
From the personal and warm welcome of Kyle and Carson, to Jay who makes you feel like he is sitting in your own living room! Heidi who makes you smile by telling you how much you make her smile! Jeff Brown, I swear you have a pager that goes off each time someone posts to their blog so you can jump in with some words of encouragement! Darren and Nicola, so much inspiration, Florentino, Keisha, The Catherine :), Lenka, ExpatMark! You know I can go on and on here. You know who you are, all of you! If you are in my network or I have stopped by to ask you to be part of yours, each one of you make this community what it is.
It's the People...
We are sharing stories, success, achievements, moments in our lives, in a place in which helping each other is as important to us as our own journey. This is special! This is missing in any other platform out there. This is missing in our world, but here in the WA community it thrives, and because of it so will we!
I know I am eventually going to get caught up on enough of the technical stuff to make me feel like I actually know what I am doing. I place a lot of importance on that part of this adventure. I get it, I will get it! Indeed, there is going to come a day when I can answer those tough questions or more importantly I will be able to confidently point you in the right direction so somebody else can.
Right now though, I want to enjoy all of you, I want to get as excited about your success as you do! I want to lift your spirit as much as you lift mine. My reflection for the final hours of this year is to let you know how grateful I am to be passing through your world, and in the process welcome all of you into mine! Cheers to WA for 2020!
