The second being the second course that I have just finished. One of the final tasks is to write a blog about progress so far, so here goes.

Three weeks ago I decided to give this a go. No one recommended WA, and, to my knowledge, I do not know anyone who has done/is doing this. I researched for a while first, and even when I jumped in there was a part of me that said "where's the catch"? Despite that caution I made some decisions right at the start that were not easy for me. The first one was that after so many years being the one dishing out the instructions and pretty much making up the rules as I went along, I realised that if this was as it seemed, then the only way to get the best from it was by putting everything I knew, or thought I knew, to one side and accept the training as given, step by step and with commitment and patience. I can't say I have kept to that entirely. Patience is something I haven't got a lot of patience for. However, when I felt I was cheating myself, I just went for a walk and ate cake. One usually cancels out the other.

And now...here I am three weeks later...

I have a website. www.theretiredbroker.com It doesn't look the way I want it yet.

But it will.

The idea has been enthusiastically received by old colleagues as well as people I've just come across who seem to know a bit about marketing. The directions I can take this are legion, with people asking me to explore the idea for their particular field. As of this moment, I have committed to doing one more site, but the choices available to me are now a few more than a handful.

I have a paid advertiser. I previously blogged about this so won't go over old ground. Suffice to say I have already been paid enough to cover membership for a while and a bit.

I have a Google+ page. I still do not fully understand how it works, but will get there.

I have a facebook page. Definately a "work in progress". I have a 20 something daughter who is scheduled to explain to me what I am doing wrong with it.

I have nearly a hundred followers on Twitter. I get that, and its a lot of fun.

I have a Tumblr account. I have no idea what that is.

I have an instagram account. Please see above.

I have about 50 draft posts for theretiredbroker and the notes that form the basis of at least four ebooks.

But more than any of that, I have learnt something new and am having more fun now than I have done in years (and I can go back a few years!)

Oh...and I appear to have a business.
