Countdown to 2015, Day 10: Talking Back to Your Inner Voice

I am counting down the days until 2015 arrives with ideas, information, inspiration and resources to help you earn more in 2015.

It’s possible that you are not even aware of the inner voices that keep feeding you negative messages - or how they stop you from making more money.

It is said that the majority of our thoughts are negative - and many of them are about ourselves. These thoughts are even more frequent when we are facing obstacles.

How many times have you said things like this to yourself:

"That was so stupid!"

"This is too hard! I can't do it! "

Negative self talk is an inner saboteur at work. The way to combat these messages is to see them for what they are: unreasonable and irrational. Becoming aware of them is the first step to banishing them, and then the fun begins.

The next time you hear an inner negative message, talk back to it.

Say things like:

"I'm not stupid, this is just something new for me."

"This is not too hard – I just have to take it one step at a time."

Then, create some positive thoughts about yourself. List things that you are good at and all of your good qualities. These positive thoughts and actions reinforce your positive feelings about yourself.

Give yourself the same affection and understanding that you would to a friend -- and never say anything to yourself that you wouldn't say to that friend. A little self-love can go a really long way to increasing your self-esteem and your willingness to try new things.
