Major problem with SSL redirects

Ok so after I installed SSL my site takes twice as long to load. Even after uninstalling SSL I still have redirects slowing my site. The tradeoff isn't worth no one coming to my site.

I'd like to hear similar experiences if they have happened and what you did to fix it. I may move my site to different hosting if I can't find the answer, which would make me consider if staying with WA is even worth it.

Hey Geoff,

I'll investigate and come back to you within your SiteSupport ticket.

Carson

Thanks Carson. I did that before and kinda got blown off. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough with my request. Just tried again.

I've responded in your ticket with a few suggestions - let's chat there :)

Hi, thanks for the share. Irv.

Thanks for sharing, Geoff.

Thanks.

You're welcome.

I still have not put it on my site. I felt if I was not using a vendor site and just a blog I did not need it.

Well - I'm not leaving WA by any stretch of the imagination, but you're right. My site has gotten significantly slower (16 secs to load). Whether or not it has to do with SSL installation ... who can say? I've lots of plugins (more than the recommended number). If they weren't necessary, they wouldn't be there. Make sense?

Support was helpful and suggested a WP plugin to help speed, but it didn't work. I haven't had an opportunity to report this to them, so in all fairness and going on past experience, I'm confident that when they find out about the plugin not being useful, they will be as helpful as always.

So hang in there. We can't be the only two members experiencing slower websites. But I'm confident that if WA knows about the issue, they will address the issue.

Hope this helps.

That was done but has nothing to do with site speed. GA showed me the problem because I have almost a 100% bounce rate and 00:00 time on every visit. People are clicking away before my site opens.

I get a blank screen on the WA siterubix when I refresh my picture. I ran a site speed test and got disturbing results. Double the time with issues that weren't there before. I disabled ssl and my speed dropped almost double. But I still have redirects so it's not as fast as it was.

I contacted support about this and they said they see no problem with 404's, but site speed check says I have them.

Very frustrating and not getting any straight answers.

Very disturbing. You forced me to check at my side, do not see anything unusual. I used Google Speed Insight Tool. Would not trust any other online tool.

I would suggest contacting the Support and request to investigate. This may be a global issue which may be affecting many members. Let's see if others have something to say.
