I Am The History Guy Here So.Happy Juneteenth!
I myself even knowing what the holiday is about, found myself reluctant to blog about it because somehow I'm not supposed to be allowed to celebrate such things according to the media.
A Little History
The Emancipation of Proclamation was signed into law on Jan. 1st, 1865.
It would be another 4 1/2 months before the troops of Maj. General Gorden Granger would arrive in Galveston Tx. On that day he brought then the news that the war had ended and all enslaved men were now free. That day was the 19 of June 1865.
On Thursday, June 17th, 2021, Joe Biden signed into law legislation that would establish June 19th as Juneteenth National Independence Day
That is Today June 19th
This is a day we all should celebrate the freedom of our brothers and sister. Nothing has been perfect and most of the time not even good but I am very thankful for the progress anyways. There were many in the south that preferred it all to be different and if we had not won that war...it would have been. Not just for us but for the whole world.
I am part Native American so I too have a beef with our history because I know and understand it. I also know and understand we have come a long way and we can not change the hearts and minds of people with violence...it must be done with love.
So I will end by saying "I love you all" Hug one another and let's celebrate together.

I always find it interesting to see which parties voted which way on critical amendments such as the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments. Most people assume one thing about who wanted to end slavery, when in fact quite the opposite was true.
It is so quite the opposite. All through our history one side has fought to either keep our Black citizens enslaved to either man or the government.
At one time they did it by chains, now they do it with a check.
No matter what color you are, you are a slave to the government since the "party" of choice put them there in 1965.
The Dems left the KKK behind in 1962 but wrote an article in the house and passed by the senate that if you do not have a father on the child certificate or a husband in the house...we will enslave you with a check and give you a great home in the ghetto.
We see how that turned out and they still give them their votes because they do to know or understand the history and want to burn the books so we never remember or realize who the issue really is.
The Republicans have always tried to free them and it makes the Dems really mad. Republicans such as Lincoln, Grant, Reagon, and the best of them all for the Black American...Trump
Great post Glenn! Thanks for the history lesson! I really hope that recognition of such an important day in the history of America will not only be seen as a holiday but in honour of the people without whom America would not be where it is today! Happy belated Juneteenth.
