Some Discoveries by Looking and Some by Asking

Hello to the wonderful people in WA,

I have often wondered how to use this blog. We're prompted to share a success such as completing a level, or even a victory, no matter how big or small, monetary related or not but I've wondered if that would be of value to anyone else? Perhaps! I guess it could be a motivation to someone to go to the next level or take heart seeing someone succeed when things have been slow for them.

I guess I'm still a little unsure what to write lol

I was going to write about something that got me thinking while going through course 4. Social Media.

Then there were other things that popped into my head at the same time - How Do You Organize Yourself? What Tools Do You Use? And the challenges I have been wrestling with on that front.

And finally, there were a couple of things from today that I discovered. I'll thing start with those :-)

The first thing I discovered was using this tool (My Blog). Okay, this was a little by accident because I remember reading about this recently and I'm sorry, I can't remember who it was that posted the lovely article, but they described using the Blog to make notes and placeholders etc. So this information below isn't new - it's just that it's a new discovery for me!!

As I started this blog, I had to leave the page (and computer) for awhile and then come back to it. I couldn't find a save button but I did see that it "auto saved" but I had no idea how or where it went nor how I would retrieve it.

Figuring I would just start the post again, I just shut the page and returned later. After all, I wasn't sure what I was going to write anyway! haha

Discovery - I came back and launched the "create a new blog" and found that it actually listed my saved draft above the spot I would use to create a brand new blog (it makes a lot more sense when you see it. Trust me).

Awesome! I now know what was being said about using it as a placeholder... got to find that article again. It'll make sense now.

Next, the other day Fleur posted her surprise celebration of having her blog being #6 in the top 10. I was thinking at the time, I didn't even know there was a top 10 and how did she know? Then today I was just clicking through the site to look around and guess what I found? The TOP 10 list.

Discovery - the top 10 list can be found by clicking on the activity dashboard (top left) and then on the top 10 tab along the top. There you will discover the top 10 blogged and the top 10 training. If you haven't done so already, take a tour. You'll be amazed at what you find when you just click around :-)

Finally, without wanting to turn a "I don't know what to write" post into a "I don't know when to stop" post, I have one last discovery from today.

Craig, is not only an ambassador, but he's ranked #20. That's so impressive and thank you Craig for what you do for the community. My lesson from Craig today was when he posted a question beginning "So, I kind of hate to ask this, because by rights, I should know the answer already...".

Discovery - that it doesn't really matter what your rank or level of expertise is, what your station in life is, if you have a question, then ask it.

The community isn't going to look down or frown upon you for asking. They're not going to think "this is the dumbest question ever". Quite the contrary. Everyone is here to help. And help they will!

I have been guilty of trying to find the answer I was looking for, myself. The amount of hours I have wasted when all I needed to do was ask. I shudder to think. A good lesson.

Thank you for reading this far and thanks in advance for coming to my rescue when I ask a "dumb questions"!

Feeling Grateful - Gary

By reading others blogs I have learnt such a lot beside the Certificate Course so thank you for your post, Gary :)

Thanks for dropping by Carol and leaving a comment.

You're right. There's such a lot to learn from other people's experiences.

Actually, some are just darn good reading material - there are very talented writers here.

Have a lovely day Carol :)

My father always told me that the only "dumb" question is the one you don't ask! And I have learned throughout my life that that is probably one of the wisest things he ever taught me! I, too, have discovered a lot of things here at WA by reading other people's posts here and then doing some exploring to see what they are talking about! Keep up the good work!

Too true Kristin. Sadly I knew that adage but was usually too shy/embarrassed to ask my questions. That's for another time :)

Yes, totally agree re the reading other people's posts. So much to glean from reading from others.

Thank you!

Found the top 10 blogs and trainings! Thanks Gcd.

Let's try get it in the right place Khee :-) It's my pleasure!

Good stuff Khee.

FYI: I deleted my original comment on your profile page (hence my comment below). I meant to reply to your comment here.
