The Old Mousetrap Still Works!
I just got done reading an illustration out of a really good book called, "The Wizard of Ads" and it talked about the Mousetrap Myth.
Ralph Waldo Emerson made this statement, "If a man can make a better mousetrap than his neighbor, the world will make a beaten path to his door."
Emerson was wrong. Even though many people continued to make better mousetraps, the mice did not 'beat a path' to them.
Actually, the newer traps cost more money, had to be cleaned and people just didn't want to buy them because of that.
Therefore, they stuck to the old traps that many people have been using for decades and still use today! They cost less, THEY WORK, and they can be thrown out WITH the mouse.
With Emerson's statement, he was, either directly or indirectly, painting a picture of fame and recognition, even though he had made a false statement that had disappointed many.
With our websites, we really want people to beat a path to our door. Some might think that because we have a flashy website, or cool bells and whistles, that people are going to beat a path to our website. FALSE!
It still goes back to what works and what has always worked - great content. Content! Content! Content! Good content and much content on our niche's is what will, eventually, get the mice beating a path to our door.
Moral of the story - Forget about a better mousetrap. Concentrate on better words and content and the returns will be endless!

I like the connection with the story of the mousetrap,
yes, content is king, but the content also has to be
- relevant, and
- clearly presented
all the best,
Very true.
