Blitzgrieg
Does anyone remember that far back in their history. I am talking about the start of World War 2. Germany attacked Poland, Belgium, Holland and France and within a matter of months had defeated all of them. Before anyone had time to wipe the tank dust out of their eyes they had become German occupied territories.
Almost before the allies had time to declare war it was over for Poland. No army had advanced this fast at any time in the history of human conflict. The German military nicknamed it "Blitzkrieg". The whole of Europe trembled and the only thing that stood between them and total defeat was Great Britain.
This was Hitler's next target but through dogged British fortitude this never happened. The allied armies (Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) held the Germans at bay until the USA came into the conflict. It took the allied armies almost another 6 years to defeat the German war machine.
Enough of the history lesson. I only brought this up because I was pondering my internet marketing career while I was watching an old World War 2 movie on TV, and I suddenly realized that my journey here at WA was just like what had taken place back then.
My career here at WA has been "Blitzkrieg" one minute and then dogged allied army advance the next. If I had not been watching this old war movie I may never have made the connection. I have been here at WA for a year now and it seems that I am not making any headway.
This journey that I am on is made up of quick spurts and then long periods of seemingly no advance at all. This movie just brought home to me that this course that I have chosen is going to be long and arduous. There are no quick fixes here and just like the allied armies I have to dig in and just keep going, knowing that I will make it in the end.
If there are any of you out there thinking of giving up, don't. Just as I am convinced that I will make it so must you.
I have written this as much for myself as for any of you newbies out there. Just think it took the allied armies nearly 6 years to defeat Hitler, if you and I can do it in less than 2, what an amazing feat. What else are you going to do with the next few months.

Excellent point, Garth. I love that quote on persistence by Calvin Coolidge: Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
Persistence is not an attribute that is very common in our modern society. We are too used to immediate gratification. Instant food, fast food, movies, fast cars it's all there.
Here at WA we have to relearn how to be patient. As I said it's taken me nearly 1 year but I'm getting there.

My Uncle Bob served In that War. Us kids we'd call him the tickler. He'd tickle us until we'd say give up. He'd say, there is no give up, there's only up.
Your right Garth, obstacles are only to be blown up and we don't give up. Keep moving forward. When you get stuck, ask for help. We got your back. ^_~
