Standing In the Rain is a Choice

Today in response to a website post about depression someone likened depression in their life to rain falling on their head.

I liked the analogy at first but when I thought about it I realised that rain falling on your head is a choice. You can choose to stand in the rain or you can pull out an umbrella or you can get inside out of the rain. We do not need to get wet when it rains. Its all about mind set, how we think about our circumstances.

There are times when it is unavoidable, we are going to get wet because we are not preppared for the rain when it comes. It may even come down very heavy as hail and hurt us if we continue to stand in it. We may need some help to get out of the rain and feel protected from its beating on our heads.

Get Out of the Rain.

Don't just stand there, get some help either by asking for it or seeking it yourself. You are not going to stay dry for long while you are being pelted with rain. Sometimes we are our own worst enemies. We find ourselves caught in a difficult situation and either we can't see a way out or we are too proud to ask for help.

Getting wet does not hurt you, being pelted by hail might. If you are feeling like you are getting too wet or the circumstances surrounding you are too much to bear get out of it NOW. Don't stand there alone feeling sorry for yourself, reach for your umbrella or get into a different place and ask for help.

The Sun Shines After Rain

We cannot see the sun while it is raining but we can visualize it in our mind. That will change our mindset to something pleasurable and warm and comforting. It will give you strength to ride out the storm and enjoy the sunshine when it comes.

It is all about how we think, what our mind set is and if we can change that, its like we can change the weather. We need to start by counting blessings and being thankful, having that attitude of gratitude even for the rain.

The rain refreshes and replenishes the earth. Without it we would all eventually die. Our circumstances, whilst they may not be pleasant at the time will eventually make us stronger. We can overcome them by the way we think. Instead of going crook about the rain, start by being thankful for the rain and make a mental list of all its benefits.

If your rain is financial stress then be thankful you are able to consider ways to deal with it, get some help if you need, but grow through it. You will be the stronger for the experience. The same if it is grief or trauma or whatever circumstance has made you feel saturated with grief. Take time to evealuate what you can learn from it and give thanks that you have survived it then take some steos to get ou of the rain and enjoy the sunshine.

The sushine might be your family or friends or a special place you like to be. Soak in its warmth and bathe in its presence until you are completely dry. Appreciate all the blessings in your life and give thanks always. I love the rain.

Well , always try to be positive! I love the little sun running away from the rain ha ha !
I saw B.J.Thomas live singing that song front row years ago he was very good ,that's when seats were reasonably priced not like today.

It was a good catchy tune. We have to try to remain positive no matter what our circumstances.
All the best and thank you for commenting

Standing in the rain can be invigorating, then again I am reminded of that song, I can't stand the rain falling ...........

At that point of isolation, folks can forget, that after the rain the Sun will return.

A motivating post Judy, really like the anology.

Alex

Thanks Alex, as I said we have to face every circumstance with a positive attitude then it does not matter what rains on us we can get through it.
All the best

Takes me back to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Circa 1970!

Showing your age Mike. Good on you,

Some things are ageless!

Hey that was a great movie ha ha even though the ending wasn't what really happened.

What a great advice!
It's true, there is always a solution even
when we think we never see the end of
our problems. We must have the courage
to get out of the storm and go for help.

Thanks for this helpful post!
Ingrid

Thanks Ingrid, it is all a matter of choice and the mindset we cultivate.

Some parts of Australia have not seen rain for years. Dams are dry, cattle and sheep dying. We need rain so send some our way. Rivers are dry. A million freshwater fish dead.
While up north Australia 300,000 cattle drowned when a meter and a half of rain fell in 6 days.
Please, God, share it around.

Great comment Tirolith. It has certainly been weird here weather wise but we still live in the best country in the world.

Great comment. Thank you for sharing

But it is true isn't it. We are probably all guilty of standing in the rain.

Great motivational post
Thanks for sharing
Have a great day

You too Tommy. It really is just common sense though.

It's mostly just common sense, but I like the way you bring it. I use many times similar ways to explain with my clients related to health and wellness

Or you could just start "Singing In The Rain". Sorry I just had to say it.

Love it thank you

This is very motivational Freisia, you always give out great wisdom :)

Thank you Snazzy. We all need a good prompt from time to time so as much for me as anyone. Cheers
