ROUND 3. FIGHT!
So tonight will be my 3rd session back in the dojo and I can feel the benefits already of this amazing martial art. When people think of Karate they just assume you learn how to kick and punch.... And I don't blame them. I was the same. It is only when you have practiced for some time that the bigger picture opens up. As a Karateka you are encouraged to question your spirit, your morals, your fears everything. It is known as BUDO or the self development aspect of the art and this is what truly drew me towards learning Shotokan Karate. This has extended outside of the dojo so I now question all the time what I am doing and why I am doing.
The moral of the story is whatever you do remember to always see the bigger picture, Question and think about your own Self Development!
Have a great day everyone!

Karate is much like business, in order to get good you need to practice regularly and sometimes push yourself beyond what you thought was possible (while keeping a positive attitude). There are a lot of close similarities.
Good luck with your session!
could not agree more Kyle. One of the reasons I joined because once your learning in the dojo it naturally extends to the rest of your life. The philosophy is the same. Karate is Life :)
Thanks, brother...yes, the bigger picture indeed! And you just reminded me that I've been away from martial arts for wayyyy tooo long!
So, for me, the fight is on to "take hold" and live for time and money freedom (get my life back) so that I can get back into the awesomeness of martial arts.
FYI...I took up Isshinru" martial arts back in the day...great stuff!
Cheers,
JC
You're welcome and i'm glad you enjoyed this post. I haven't trained in years. 3 years ago was training in choy li fut kung fu but stepping back into the dojo is one of the best decisions I have made. I was lucky enough to find a reasonabliony priced dojo as I too struggled to get back in due to my financial situation. Good luck though. I would highly reccommend getting back into any kind of martial art.
