Slow Down! Don't Jump Ahead!
I was really excited to get my website started and rolling. I'm always in a rush to pay my bills which are always due TODAY! So of course, I'm hoping to see results from my Affiliate Marketing lessons. This community has so much information that I thought I had it figured out. So..I built my website and threw on some affiliate links. Crossed my fingers and didn't see results. :(
Where did I go wrong? I realized I was trying to jump ahead of the program and complete everything so quickly that I missed a lot of important steps. I went back and watched my tutorials again and realized what I had done. If I would have paid closer attention and followed along step by step, I wouldn't have wasted hours trying to figure out plugins and make my website look fancy.
What about my global market? I thought I needed some great graphics and cool fonts to jazz up my artsy website. After all I am a body painter. You can see here. Well I have only been body painting since 2012 and its a new passion of mine. So I chose it as my first niche. While it's great to display my artwork, I realize that there is no direction for anyone to buy anything unless you are headed to the same festivals I am. This would only be profitable by me providing a service.
Is local marketing easier? What I need is a sense of direction to guide my visitors, so they know what to click on next and what I am selling. I didn't realize this until I built a second website that was very simple and easy to navigate. When I started getting big clients, they all said they found me on Google, it was before I had the chance to upload pictures and even transfer my domain over. It's still a local site rubix site. I had followed along the WA Getting Started program and took my time. I still have not finished this site much less even added many blogs. Somehow the steps are still landing me on Google because of low competition. That's right, Low Hanging Fruit!
Just because my visitors are coming in through low numbers, doesn't mean they aren't serious buyers. Since January, this unfinished website is making me around $2000 per month. Just Yesterday, I landed a client who wants me to paint 9 locations and he found me on Google. I am fortunate to have experience in providing a local commercial painting service whereas some of you are starting with just a link to promote. However the point is that this Keyword research system works.
I decided to start the Affiliate Bootcamp to test this theory and I'll update my results when I see them. For a week now, my new Affiliate website is up and running and so far I am getting 1 click per day. These are not referrals but visitors interested enough to look. I just hope I can contain myself to focus on these 3 websites and get them all in tune.
I have been here for almost a year and my life hasn't really changed. I am always busy with my family and haven't completely submerged myself into affiliate marketing. I do believe this program works and could provide me with a stable income if it is all I chose to do. If you are an Affiliate looking to get rich quick, I don't think this is the right way. If you want my advice, I've tried quite a few of those programs, the key is to work hard everyday and if you don't see the rewards then you just aren't working hard enough!
