Happy April Fools Day Everyone!

I wanted to add some additional Tips for working at home since my first post was so well received.

Hopefully, these will add some value to your work at home day

Please feel free to add your own at the end of the post.

1. We all need OUR workspace.

The main objective is to be productive so where ever that can best be achieved, have at it.

For example, Most of us carve out a spare bedroom but you may not have that luxury and need to be more creative with your workspace.

If you can create a small workspace in your hallway or even in your garage (which I have done) that is great. Other areas used are small alcoves in hallways, large walk-in closets, etc..

Remember it is your space so have fun with it.

2. We all have major and minor things to do

Each evening or if you prefer morning, make a list of the most important tasks that need to be completed. Next, complete the minor task that needs to be completed. This will keep you "On Task" and help you stay focused during your busy day.

If you complete all the task assigned for that particular day..take the rest of the day off.

3. Please avoid distractions.

Although we work from home, we still must work. when I refer to the word "Working", it has nothing to do with the personal home stuff that needs to be completed like dishes , laundry, making beds etc..

It's funny, when I first started to work from home, my friends and family would say to me "how much TV do you watch, or You must have a very clean house since your there to clean it during the day." It's important to remember that working from home still means you have to Work.

We need to put on our big Boy/Girl pants and be focused, set our schedule and produce our work

Please keep the thread going and let everyone know where you set up your home office or what you do daily to keep focused and Produce your work

There needs to be a frig in that room:) It does take discipline to work at home and a friendly reminder to everyone that this is work. Finding time to channel it in during busy times is the toughest. Like anything else, I try to hit it hard on the computer when the studio is quiet.

Thanks, Great info to stay focus. Regards Sadie

I like the pix. On the days that I'm trying not to pig out and drinking tons of water, this would be real time saver. LOL.

It's important to not get distracted. I know people think that if you're home, you must have time for ...... (you name it). They don't understand. ~Debbi

That picture is really funny! I have created a little space for myself right next to a window in my TV lounge. I love the light that pours in and every now and then I look out at the trees and mountains.

Sounds really nice Erica

As soon as I joined up with wealthy affiliate, the spare room that I hadn't finished suddenly became a place where I knew I would be doing the things that I love. Those are helping people, having my own business and writing. I painted the walls a color that I really like, they're going to put the carpet in in a couple of weeks, and I purchased a desk. I'm taking my time and know it will all fall into place.

That is awesome

Great points Frank. It is easy to become distracted by the minutiae of working from home, but fortunately I have a husband who does it for me!! :)
