Hi WA Friends!

In my last post, I described how I use OpenAI custom GPTs to automate the design of five Pinterest pins for my guitar niche. You can read about it here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/frankb-1/blog/making-pinterest-pins-with-a-custom-gpt

This post (part two) demonstrates some of the analytics that show how AI automation with OpenAI Custom GPTs (ChatGPT4 only) can skyrocket your Pinterest progress, even in a relatively unpopular niche like guitars!

Your Niche Matters on Pinterest

One challenge is that Pinterest is female-dominated, and the majority of electric guitar players are male. Niches like arts and crafts and interior decorating have a much bigger Pinterest following.

Although guitar niches do much better on social channels like Facebook and X (previously Twitter), what I like about Pinterest and Instagram is that they are image and video-driven search engines, so text content creation is minimal, and automation works well.

My Pre-AI-Automation Pinterest Posting Strategy

When I started my guitar niche, I posted 3 to 5 pins each time I published a new blog post, so about 5 to 10 pins a week. After about 100 website posts, I was getting less than 3,000 Pinterest views a month with 1 to 2 outbound clicks to my site. So, not a viable traffic source.

AI Automation Changed My Pinterest Posting Strategy

On December 1st, 2023, I began using AI to automate my pins, as described in my previous post (see link above).

I have been trying to stick to an automated pin schedule that would give me over 2,000 pins at the end of 2024, which you can read about here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/frankb-1/blog/my-2024-pinterest-schedule-and-how-pinning-consistently-add-up

Custom GPTs allowed me to increase posting frequency to 5 to 25 pins a day! My monthly Pinterest views progressively increased from less than 3,000 to 62,000, and outbound clicks increased from 1 to 2 to over 100 (for my pins only).

Analytics Amplify Success!

Following my Pinterest analytics helped me narrow down the most popular pins to post. For my niche, pins with a guitar and amplifier have more engagements (clicks + saves) than pins that have only a guitar or amplifier.

In addition, guitar and amp (combo) pins in my niche without image text typically have more engagements than combo pins with writing on them.

Here are two examples of AI-automated pins created without and with text:

Pin Design Specifications

Getting the best image detail with AI automation is a matter of getting specific with the design specifications in the GPT.

For example, in the above pin on the left (enlarge image to see the details) I specified that Les Paul guitars can have a rosewood or ebony neck, two or three pickups, and a flame-maple, painted, or gold top, and let the AI randomly choose an option for each.

The GPT learns how to accurately design the guitar neck, pickups, and body top by doing a Bing internet search before creating the image. The more design information you include in the GPT, the more accurate the guitar image will be.

You can also specify if you want it to create the images without writing on the guitars and amps, but DALL-E 3 is getting progressively better at eliminating spelling errors.

Adjusting My GPT Output

This user pin preference led me to create another Custom GPT that produced five combo-only pins, which I use preferentially without image text.

Whenever I publish an article on my website, I use a custom GPT that analyzes the post and creates five assorted pins (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, guitar amplifier, combo (guitar plus amp), and effects pedal).

Each of the five pins has text written on the image, which describes the point of the article, similar to the pin above on the right.

I have over a dozen Custom GPTs that design pins for various guitar, guitar amplifier, and effect pedal configurations. That kind of automation really simplifies and speeds up the creation process!

My Three Month Pinterest Results (pre and post-automation)

Here are my Pinterest analytics for the past three months.

(Pinterest Analytics data for my pins only)

When I started using GPT automation in December 2023, my impressions were about 50 a day and increased to over 3,000 a day by the end of January 2024.

Over the three months, my pins had almost 80,000 impressions and 154 outbound clicks, but 59,000 impressions, 106 outbound clicks, and 62,000 monthly views were from the past 30 days.

Creating and Scheduling Pins Everyday is Important

I took a week off from pinning on Pinterest in the third week of January to play more music. Haha, it was worth it, but you can see the plateauing effect in the graph above. It's also well-documented that daily pinning works best, which makes AI automation key!

My GA4 Pinterest Analytics

Here are my Google Analytics for the past three months.

(Google Analytics Data for my pins)

The three-month GA4 metrics show 42 users and 116 sessions. Although the numbers are small, Pinterest is clearly being tracked by Google, which can be a positive ranking signal for my website articles in the Google SERPs!

Slow But Sure Progress

100 website post visits a month from Pinterest is not much traffic, but my goal is to continue to use AI pin automation to go from 62,000 monthly Pinterest views to between 500,000 and 1,000,000 by the end of 2024 (if I can manage to put my guitar down here and there, Lol).

Tell Me What You Think

Are you using AI to automate Pinterest, Instagram, or another social channel, and what results are you getting? Remember, results can vary widely, depending on your niche, and it's important to create and schedule pins daily.

Let me know what you think in the comments.

I hope you found this info helpful, and I promise to bring you a much less boring musical post next time. 😎

Until then, enjoy your FriSatSu Eve, ... AND:

Another excellent post Frank! I absolutely need to learn how to do this, SOON!

Why don't you have your guitar niche links on your profile page in the links section? I'd like to follow but don't know where to find you.

Thanks again for your articles on creating these custom GPT's!

Kevin

Thanks so much, Kevin! πŸ™

I like Pinterest it is time-efficient and easy to automate.

I'll PM you the links. 😎

Great info, Frank! And so very detailed!

I don't even have a Pinterest account yet, maybe in the future.

This is very cool information! And I'm sure you'll find that happy medium between working on your website and playing guitar! 🎸🎸

Thanks, Frank and Rock On!

Tim 🎼

Hi Tim

I’m glad you found this helpful.

You need to create a Pinterest business account to get the analytics, but it’s free.

As far as the β€œhappy medium,” don’t count on it! Lol πŸ˜† 🎢

Having had little interest in my pins, I had slacked off on it. I am going to finish my post, go back through yours on the subject of automating postings and will be more diligent. I will report back by the end of February with the results. I appreciate the motivation.

Sounds awesome, Don! πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

When I say little interest, this is where I am starting from. I have created a prompt that creates 5 pins per post, using H2, H3, or keywords. I am manually creating these, adding 5 per day, My goal is to create enough pins to fill out the month. I am up to 2/8. I will continue to post the progress.

Again, thanks for the motivation. This is my weekend project.

Great plan, Donald! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Have an excellent weekend,
Frank 🎸

I am curious to see the results, though I am not wanting to be a Rolling Stone through the month of February just yet!.

Hi Frank,

I see what you did now (I freaked out at first and said OMG how do you GENERATE PINS???) but now I understand it's the title, description and image.

One thing I do not understand is you said that you generated images with text.

DALL-E kant spel tu gud...

Do you mean you generated the images, then put the text on it yourself??

Thank you!

Michael

Hi Michael

No, DALL-E3 generates the text in the images. I agree that it isn’t perfect, but it’s improving incrementally.

I use recurrent brand names in my images like Fender, Marshall, etc., which makes it easier.

I just discard the really unusable images. 😎

Frank 🎸

I meant the labels. It got them right??

Labels?

Not sure what you mean, Michael.

Create the pin, title, and pin description.

You can add tags, too.

I meant the text on the picture. I will change my gpt and see how it works

My GPT does the text on the picture, Michael.

Frank 🎸

Congratulations, Frank.

Your Pinterest success has Masterclass and Expert training all over it. Seems that you have not only found your bailiwick, my friend. You have cracked the code 100% and you are slaying Pinterest right and left.

All I can say is:
Holy mackerel.

Rachele
p.s. This is incredible!

Haha, Thanks, Rachele!πŸ™

I’m just a little guitar crazy. When I’m not playing them, I’m looking at photos in my books and magazines.

It’s hopeless! I might need a guitar detox. Lol πŸ˜‚

Mr. Guitar.

This is passion on steroids, my friend. You put your pedal to the metal X10.
I have nothing to say except.

OMG! OMG! OMG!

If you need a guitar detox, we are here for you. Are you shaking? Do you hear voices? Are you getting 8 hours of sleep? Do you know your name and what day it is?

Just kidding! Go for it baby!
Rachele

Hi Rachele

I’m still A&O X 3, but I have to count guitars to fall asleep. Lol πŸ˜‚ 🎢

Frank 🀘🎸

You are hilarious Frank!
This is what happens when you become an AI Guitar bot.
What planet did you say you are a part of?

πŸš€πŸŒπŸš€πŸŒπŸš€

Rachele

AI Guitar bot, I like that, Rachele! Lol 😎😎

My origins are somewhat of a mystery to a lot of people. πŸ‘½πŸ›Έ
