Google Changes Things Up Again

I just read about some changes that Google is supposed to have recently made. Their ranking algorithm for mobile devices now looks for what Google is calling "Intrusive interstitials". Intrusive interstitials are pages that open before or after the expected content.

We knows these as popup windows. Google is now penalizing websites that have popups that show up on mobile devices. Per Google you can only have a popup cover the top 1/4 of the above the fold screen on a mobile device. This is not much room on a mobile phone. If you have a popup, say to get user to sign up for your newsletter, it is probably going to be too big. Hurting you mobile rankings.

Follow this link for a full article explaining this further and suggestions on what to do about it. http://bit.ly/2BBWbYZ

Hope this helps.

That's an easy enough fix though. Exclude the pop up from mobile devices and then build an HTML button for your CTA, you could even make it sticky if you like, just be sure to exclude that from your desktop as you will have the pop-up.
I was on a webinar 2 nights ago where the host was an SEO specialist and close friend of Gary Illyes. Although not 100% confirmed we got a lot of interesting info dropped in that webinar. Personally, if what was said comes to be fruitful in 2018, I think I will actually benefit from it.
Great post monkey man!

That’s interesting
