Improve your writing - get ranked in Google

As you probably know, I tried to get into affiliate marketing about 5 years ago but it was a disaster - I didn't know what I was doing, I had no support and I quickly gave up.
After I read a review of Wealthy Affiliate I decided to give it a try. I knew that some people made money online so I thought that it must be possible! I decided that this time I wouldn't give up on my dream.
One of the things that I (thought) I'd learnt before was how crucial keywords are to your content. Far too many programs out there promote the idea of 'keyword stuffing' - filling your website so full of carefully chosen keywords that you sound completely unnatural and robot-like. Plus, writing gets very boring when all you are doing is spending hours finding keywords and then writing a few bits of fluff around them!
One of the most important things I've been learning since joining Wealthy Affiliate is the importance of natural writing and that Google really like genuine, original content and will rank it highly. The days when you could stuff an article with keywords and immediately appear on the first page of results are gone.
Writing in a natural way therefore has several advantages:
- Google ranks original, high-quality content well in search results
- Your visitors will enjoy it, making it much more likely they will visit again, share on social media and use your affiliate links
- It's much more FUN! Writing to inform and entertain your audience is so much easier than spewing out a load of awkward keyword phrases.
Sure, keywords are important but don't overdo it! Put your keywords in the title and the first paragraph, but let the rest of it flow naturally.
This sort of advice is one of the main reasons that I'm really enjoying Wealthy Affiliate and my enthusiasm for my website and blogging on here.

Hi Katie. Yes, it does take time but the work is part of the fun. If you don't enjoy writing about your niche then you have chosen the wrong one!
Definitely agree - I found that a lot of keywords associated to my niche were a bit awkward in the way they were 'paraphrased' so I improvised. It is much more enjoyable as you say when you are writing about topics you are interested in as opposed to being a parrot :-)

Hi Holly. Yes, it's SO much more fun writing decent content that you and your readers will enjoy than having to churn out a load of keywords. Readers can spot a mile off when your writing is a bit weird and awkward and will not enjoy nor revisit your site, plus you will improve your Google rankings with high quality content. Win-win!
