Finding My First Niche
1
My wife's car has had "cloudy" headlights for the last 4 or 5 years. All during this time we thought the only solution was new headlights. They are not cheap - Each headlight cost $250 plus installation. I have never seen or heard an ad on TV or radio that addressed this issue. I was searching the net recently when I ran across some information about the subject of "headlight restoration". The reviews were mixed.
After some time spent researching the possible solutions I finally decided that $20 spent on a DIY effort was worth the try. After all her low beam headlights were almost non-existent!
I bought a well known name brand restoration kit at our local auto parts store for less than $20. Using tools I already possessed and following some pretty good instructions, 40 minutes later my wife's car had clear, shinny, clean headlights - and I had my first niche.
According to lesson 3 the first step in the Niche process is choosing your audience. I have seen a lot of cloudy headlights (plastic lens have been around since 1990) and I had been there for five of those years. I was the audience.
Lesson 3 second step - find something to sell. I found a product which solved my problem. I figured there must be 1000's of people who needed this product and like myself may not realize that there is a very viable solution. I have since researched the subject some more and discovered there are a few people who actually provide this type of service. It isn't cheap - $100 to $200 per set of headlights.
I'm now ready for step number 3 - Article writing.
Rapid Writer here I come.
