Comet 3I/ATLAS or is it 3 AI/atlas
Comet 3I/ATLAS
A Cosmic Spectacle!
Hey there, fellow stargazers! 🌌
Have you heard about the latest buzz surrounding Comet 3I/ATLAS? Buckle up, because this cosmic traveler is putting on quite the show as it zips through our solar system!
First off, let’s talk about its color transformation. Imagine a comet going from a dull gray to a vibrant green! Yep, you heard that right! As it gets closer to the Sun, it’s like it’s putting on a dazzling light show, and we’re all invited to watch. This color change was even spotted during the recent total lunar eclipse. Talk about a cosmic party!
Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty. This comet is no small fry; it’s about 11 kilometers wide and hurtling through space at a jaw-dropping speed of over 210,000 kilometers per hour! That’s faster than a speeding bullet! 🏃♂️💨
But wait, there’s more! 3I/ATLAS isn’t just any comet; it’s the third confirmed interstellar visitor to swing by our neck of the cosmic woods. It’s like a time traveler from another galaxy, and it’s believed to be older than our entire solar system. Mind-blowing, right?
Mark your calendars, because this celestial wonder is set to make a close flyby of Mars next month! And it’s going to reach its closest point to the Sun on October 29, 2025. Get your telescopes ready, folks! As it approaches, we can expect a spectacular tail to form, thanks to the icy core releasing gases and dust. It’s going to be a sight to behold!
Now, here’s where it gets really interesting. Some scientists, including the ever-curious Avi Loeb, are speculating that 3I/ATLAS might even be of artificial origin. Could it be a cosmic spaceship? The debate is heating up, and we’re all here for it!
Quick Recap of the Cosmic Drama

So, grab your binoculars and get ready for a cosmic adventure!

Good Morning Fleeky,
How about immigrants from outer space?
Greetings from the south of Spain,
Taetske
Hi,Taetske
...Or just migrants... from alter space
The traject of 3i/atlas is unusual. ..
Makes one wonder if the comet will survive the Asteroid Belt
And the consequences on earth...
Or... will the comet avoid the belt, which would suggest a stirred object, not just a comet ?
✨ Fleeky
I do not doubt they can pass the Asteroid Belt in a wiffy.
They have come from so far away, and the object/s are not "natural". I am looking forward to more information.
Hasta Pronto,
Taetske
I love cosmology and all things universe related.
I'll be looking out for this, but this weekend, you can see the Chi Cygnid Meteor Shower which comes around once every 5 years.
No special goggles needed - just clear skies!
